What You'll Do:
The DevOps Engineer will ensure our products reach their destination, improve customer experience, and integrate administrations systems. As a DevOps Engineer in the DTC Engineering organization, you’ll help shape the software platform used to deliver a good night’s sleep.
Essential Job Functions:
From inception to production our engineers are invested in the solutions that we build. With DTC Engineering you’ll be working in an environment consisting primarily of Ruby on Rails, Javascript, RSpec, and Postgres deployed to Heroku with growing use of AWS. We believe strongly in continuous deployment and use Buildkite and Cypress to do so.
In our tech stack, you’ll be working on an application platform responsible for most post-purchase activities for our business including order routing, tracking, and servicing. The application platform you’ll help guide touches several aspects of our DTC business including:
- eCommerce Storefront
- Supply Chain
- Logistics
- Customer Experience
- Owned Retail
- Partnership Retail
How You'll Do It:
As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll help us to ensure that our application is robust and resilient. We are regularly evaluating improvements to our architecture and our stack. You’ll have a seat at the table as we plan the future of our DTC approach as we continue to grow our business all while:
- Be a domain leader in changing software while considering all elements of successful launch and use
- Participate in code reviews ensuring the high quality of our code
- Collaborate with peers to level up skill sets and code quality across the engineering team
- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle
- Improve quality of the product, validation, testing and provide applications support
- Evaluate and address security related audit findings alongside the entire engineering team
What You'll Bring:

At least 3 years of meaningful experience in a tech stack similar to what is described above

Experience working through ambiguity and forging a path to viable solutions

Experience building enterprise-level applications and integrations

Passion for Test Driven Development

Proficiency with the Hashicorp suite of tools: Terraform, Consul, Nomad, Vault etc.

Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines. We use Buildkite.

Experience with docker for both development and production use cases.

Experience automating configuration management with Ansible or similar.

Comfortable in a polyglot language environment. Our core applications are Ruby and JavaScript/TypeScript and our platform tooling includes Go, Python, and Bash.

Comfortable in a multi-cloud environment. We use Heroku, AWS, and Vercel.

Experience running microservices/distributed architectures.

Shopify Plus experience a plus
Extra Points for:

Experience running large legacy Ruby on Rails applications.

Comfortable with the JavaScript ecosystem. We're heavy on Next.js/React.

Experience with Serverless architectures.

Background in the e-commerce and/or supply chain domain.

Experience with Event Driven architectures.

Experience operating data stores like PostgreSQL and Redis.

An interest in the GraphQL ecosystem.
