Job Description:

Die Maintenance Technicians are responsible for the daily maintenance, upkeep, and repair of all dies on the plant floor. They are expected to maintain and care for the tools and dies so that they are always in proper working condition. Responsibilities Include:

  • The repair, cleaning, and troubleshooting of tools and dies.
  • Working with the production department with all tooling issues.
  • Verifying dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Filing, grinding, shimming, and adjusting various parts to properly fit them together.
  • Inspecting finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
  • To smooth and polish flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools, using scrapers, abrasive stones, files, emery cloths, or power grinders.
  • To initiate and conduct preventative maintenance on all tools & dies.
  • Attending necessary production meetings to acquire up-to-date information and provide input where needed regarding the tools/dies.


Job Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English for safety reasons.
  • Able to use hand tools, gauges, dials and/or other indicators to make sure machines are working properly.
  • Problem solving skills and deductive reasoning.
  • Stick (arc) and TIG welding experience. Arc gouging is a plus. (optional)
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted.


Special Safety Responsibilities:

  • Receive and understand instructions on safe use and spill control of site hazardous chemicals, wastes, and contingency plans for die maintenance and cleaning within six months of entering position.
  • Wear appropriate PPE for all use cleaning, and disposal of hazardous wastes (caustic soda).
  • Participate in annual hazardous waste training to ensure proper understanding of all hazardous waste handling, disposal procedures and contingency planning.
  • Understand facility emergency and monitoring equipment, waste feed systems, emergency communications, emergency response and shutdown procedures in relation to facility hazardous wastes.
  • Complete daily inspection of hazardous chemicals and waste tanks daily.
