Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Under general supervision and utilizing independent judgment, our Diet Assistant does limited modification of patient's menus and aids dietitians. Performs related clerical functions as required, including but not limited to processing computer orders, tallying, answering diet office phone and checking tray line. This position does not do direct patient care.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- A.A degree with successful completion of a college level modified diets course - and/or - minimum of 1 year work equivalent experience in a hospital's nutrition department office.
- Training in medical nutrition therapy, modified diets and food substitutions, nutritional and medical terminology and basic math
- Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions in English
- Computer literacy
- Experience with Windows-based computer systems
- Average typing skill
- Excellent communication and observation skills
Preferred:
- Degree emphasis on nutrition preferred
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record system.
