Position Summary:

Responsible for providing clinical nutrition services, including nutrition assessment, modified diet formulation, self-management training and nutrition intervention to patients/residents. Ensures patient satisfaction, quality care, regulatory agency compliance, and good public relations are achieved through the safe and efficient use of resources.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Advise food service managers and organizations on sanitation, safety procedures, menu development, budgeting, and planning to assist with establishment, operation, and evaluation of food service facilities and nutrition programs.
• Assesses the nutritional status of residents through documentation in the medical record
• Assist with menu development and recipe nutritional analysis.
• Complies with regulatory standards, including federal, state, and accrediting agencies while adhering to facility confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and patient/resident rights policies.
• Consult with physicians and health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of patient or Residents.
• Responsible for consulting IL residents if needed
• Creates, follows and updates all guidelines as outlined within the Company Diet Manual and the Clinical Nutrition Policies & Procedures Manual.
• Develop policies for food service or nutritional programs to assist in health promotion and disease control.
• Establishes goals and oversees implementation of clinical nutrition care based upon the facility?s medical direction and patient/ resident population.
• Evaluate laboratory tests in preparing nutrition recommendations.
• Fosters teamwork and establishes effective strategies to implement innovative programs leading to optimal clinical nutrition and financial outcomes.
• Incorporate patient cultural, ethnic, or religious preferences and needs in the development of nutrition plans.
• Inspect meals served for conformance to prescribed diets and standards of palatability and appearance.
• Menu Building and the ability of building extensions.
• Monitor food service operations to ensure conformance to nutritional, safety, sanitation and quality standards.
• Participates in/ Leads Resident satisfaction programs, departmental meetings, and facility wide Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement programs.
• Works with management to develop wellness initiatives that fit the needs of each community
• Provides medical nutrition therapy including nutrition assessment, diet modification, nutrition education, and intervention for the Resident population.
• Record and evaluate patient and family health and food history, including symptoms, environmental toxic exposure, allergies, medication factors, and preventive health-care measures.
• Provides written monthly reports to the NHA / Culinary Director / ED
• Trains and mentor?s staff and interns as applicable.
• Perform other duties as required.
