Education and Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree in nutrition, dietetics, foods and nutrition, food service systems management with one year of experience in care of individuals with special dietary needs, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Estimated salary range $23.13 - $40.60 / hour. Actual salary will vary by geographic location and experience.

Principal Accountabilities
Collaborate with the hospice inter-disciplinary team regarding the plan of care and any necessary updates
Educate the patient and/or caregiver on any recommended changes to dietary habits
Evaluate the effectiveness of instruction, patient response, progress toward patient/family goals, and need for ongoing involvement
Qualifications
Communication and interpersonal skills
Possesses up-to-date knowledge of principles, concepts and methodology of nutrition appropriate for terminally ill patients
Practices professionalism, sound reasoning, and effective communication
Ability to work a flexible schedule, to include some evenings and weekends
Ability to work with patients who are terminally ill and their family members
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs

Alabama - Licensure required
Arizona - Registered and approved to work by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
California – Registered and approved to work by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
Connecticut – Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration or certified as a dietitian-nutritionist in Connecticut
Georgia – Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed in Georgia
Idaho – Licensure required
Illinois - Licensure required
Iowa – Licensure required UNLESS licensed as a dietitian in another state or has a bachelors’ degree in nutrition from an accredited college
Kansas – Licensure required for dietitian; nutritionist may provide counseling if certified in state
Louisiana – Must meet the qualification standards of the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association, Registration preferred
Maine – Registration and Licensure required
Missouri – Qualified for licensure or recognized as a nutritionist (minimum of 4-year degree with 15 semester hours of practicum in nutrition or dietary support)
Mississippi – Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, or equivalent education/training/experience to qualify for registration
New Hampshire – Licensure required
New Mexico - Licensure required
Ohio - Licensure required
Oklahoma - Licensure required
South Carolina - Registration and Licensure required
Tennessee - Licensure required
West Virginia - Licensure required
Wisconsin - registered dietician or an individual who has documented equivalency in education or training
