The Director, Mont Lawn Camp & Retreats oversees all physical and operational needs of The Bowery Mission’s 200-acre camp and retreat facility located in Bushkill, PA (Poconos region). For nearly 130 years, Mont Lawn Camp has provided a summer refuge for children from urban neighborhoods, and now also serves year-round as a Christian retreat center. The Director will maximize use of Mont Lawn’s property for a ministry of hospitality, hosting camps, retreats, and training events throughout the year, ensuring an environment that is welcoming to both internal and external stakeholders. By delivering effective sales, superb customer service, and Christ-centered hospitality, the Director will ensure the Retreat center wins repeat business time after time.

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Responsibilities:

• Initiate, implement and manage clearly stated annual goals, objectives and action steps for the Retreat Center; including, but not limited to: 1) business development and sales, 2) program development and staffing plan, and 3) prioritization of facilities renovations and repairs.
• Oversee all areas of food service, activities, buildings, housekeeping, and maintenance. Hire, train, and develop a team that delivers an exceptional level of hospitality and service for summer camp, retreat center, and Bowery Mission clients and employees.
• Identify ways to integrate the ministry of hospitality/retreats to not only serve external groups and the children’s programs, but also The Bowery Mission’s adult programs. Partner with Program Directors to work a rhythm of retreat ministry into the adult residential/recovery curriculum.
• Drive Retreat Center revenue to meet annual goals and provide critical funds for Bowery Mission operations. Oversee the Retreat Sales Manager’s work in identifying new avenues for business and ensuring sales targets are reached.
• Steward 200 acres of God’s creation in a way that honors our Creator and sustains the land for future generations. Understand and practice sustainable land and water stewardship.
• Oversee construction of new buildings and renovations of current facilities.
• Develop annual budget and annual schedule in collaboration with the Director, Children’s Programs and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Embrace the organization’s Statement of Faith
• Bachelor’s degree in field or equivalent education and experience
• 8+ years camp or retreat center experience
• 5+ years leading a camp or retreat operation with demonstrated experience forming and leading a team with integrity, business development, program development, and land stewardship
• Passion for investing in people from a diversity of backgrounds
• Strong communicator with a high level of integrity
• Experience building and managing a budget
• Driver’s License

Salary commensurate with relevant education & experience: $65,000 - $75,000 per year
