Job Summary:


Job Title: Director of Human Resources

Job Status: Exempt

Job Summary: Coordinate all functions of the Office of Human Resources as well as provide administrative services to the University through the Administrative and Fiscal Affairs division. The Director of Human Resources will develop and implement strategic Human Resource plans and goals, as well as policies and procedures that address the Human Resource requirements of a complex university (faculty, staff and students) while enhancing diversity in the workforce. Provide leadership for the planning and implementation of a fully integrated Human Resource program that ensures organizational goals (e.g. continuous improvement, innovative solutions, employee development) and fair and equal employment opportunities. Responsible for leading the Human Resource function in ensuring quality employee relations; fair and equitable compensation decisions and opportunities for all personnel; fair and equitable training and employee development opportunities; a reliable and accountable position appointment, payroll, and benefits system; systematic recruitment and selection procedures; retirement counseling and other related programs. Management of the Human Resource Office personnel, budget and coordinates the planning Human Resources for the University, as well as collaborate with other statewide and national entities involved in planning and development of Human Resources programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the development and implementation of University-wide Human Resource policies, procedures, and work standards. Provide assistance on various forms, procedures, and policy interpretation to other University personnel as needed.

Represents the Vice President for Administrative and Fiscal Affairs at meetings and conferences as needed.

Serves as Director of Human Resources Serves as EEO/Affirmative Action Officer
Serves as Benefits Manager
Serves as Disability Services Officer

Position Qualifications:


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in student personnel services, higher education, counseling or related field .
  • Three or more years of experience in teaching and academic advisement at a university or community college.
  • Advance knowledge of advising and counseling techniques and philosophies including NACADA advising standards and student development theory.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, ability to clearly and concisely communicate with internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a diverse student body and staff.
  • Ability to work outside of a traditional work schedule.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. degree in higher education, student development, or related field. Successful administrative experience.
