Director of marketing and communications

The Director of Marketing and Communications oversees all Friends of Youth brand and product marketing. They will coordinate, organize, and implement marketing and communication strategies, develop customer service processes and research growth opportunities, through the combination of publicity, advertisement, and media relation techniques.
They will organize, direct, and monitor the agency’s marketing and communication efforts, to effectively reach targeted audience with the appropriate marketing message and go-to-market strategy.

We require:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communication, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a communications leadership role.
  • Minimum of 5 years managerial experience.
  • Direct experience with and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Extensive experience with and intermediate to advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Professional experience utilizing social media, mixed media, and vide for content development preferred.
  • Experience in a nonprofit environment preferred.
  • Must satisfactorily pass criminal history check.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid Washington State driver's license (or be able to obtain one by date of employment) with a safe driving record and auto insurance.
  • Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s) on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies with the requirements of Friends of Youth.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required. There are no exemptions.

essential duties:
Administration:

  • Manage Friends of Youth brand through consistent messaging and voice throughout internal and external communications and publications.
  • Develop, update, and maintain archive of press clippings, photographs, and other media coverage.
  • In collaboration with the Specialist of Communications, update and maintain newsletter and other contact lists.
  • Coordinate press and media relations, plan media events, write and distribute news releases, and maintain up to date list of media contacts.
  • Coordinate production of advertising and print projects.
  • Arrange interviews, speaking engagements and other public appearances for the President and CEO and other Friends of Youth employees.
  • Write scripts for media interviews and special events.
  • Track and analyze social media channels’ key performance indicators, to report outcomes and maximize growth opportunities.
  • Assist with events and serve as agency’s photographer/videographer as needed.

Marketing Communications: _

  • Align all marketing and communications strategies and deliverables with the agency’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan.
  • Develop strategies, designs, productions, and reports of internal and external marketing communication deliverables, digital, print, social and media productions.
  • Respond to crises or challenging situations quickly and professionally.
  • Ensure all agency materials have consistent and positive messaging and branding.
  • Conduct quality control on all communications.
  • Create written content for the agency’s publications and communications across all print and electronic marketing channels, including e-newsletters, social media, e-blasts, brochures, print newsletters, events, annual reports, promotional materials, program flyers, branded materials, press releases, etc.
  • Identify marketing communications goals by audience for each campaign.
  • Integrate agency-wide messaging, content, and deliverables, with Development, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and Program leadership.
  • In coordination with the Director of Development, develop strategies to sustain and increase site traffic to the agency’s social media and websites.
  • Create and proofread agency wide communication, as requested by the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Evaluate campaign performance to develop insightful reports to help inform future marketing and communication strategies.
