Position Summary


The Director of Medical Nutrition Therapy is appointed by the governing body and is responsible for organizing and directing the administration of the Medical Nutrition Therapy department services; ensuring 24-hour coverage and accountability for food and nutrition services. Applies the management concepts of planning, organizing, collaborating, and directing activities to implement the medical nutrition therapy services.


Minimum Requirements


Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Experience

  • Minimum three years’ experience in food and nutrition services with at least one year in management experience

License/Registration/Certifications

  • Must pass Serv-Safe Certification within two years of hire and maintain certification.
  • For Registered Dietitian Only:
    • Licensure with South Carolina Department of Labor Licensing & Regulation, and
    • Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian
  • For Certified Dietary manager / Certified Food Protection Professional Only:
    • Certified with Dietary Manager Association

Preferred Requirements


Preferred Education

  • Master’s Degree

Preferred Experience

  • Five years’ experience and two years’ management experience

Preferred License/Registration/Certifications

  • ServSafe Manager Certification or ServSafe Food Handler

Core Job Responsibilities


  • Establishes policies and procedures to comply with Federal, State and local laws, regulations, codes and current practice standards to ensure food safety and emergency food supply.
  • Has delegated authority to take immediate and appropriate action in the event of an emergency situation where there is clear and present danger that poses a threat of personal injury, or a threat of damage to property or equipment.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, retention, training and continuing education of department staff and approving patient menus, planning, purchasing of foods and supplies, and retention of essential record and departmental QAPI plan.
  • Must be able to provide and understand the specific communication, development, treatment needs of patients, families, and visitors ranging in age from early adult to late adult

Schedule: Full-Time, Days (weekends as needed), 8:30pm - 5:00pm
