Director of Military and Community Programs

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer.

Description: The Samaritan Center (www.samaritan-center.org) is a non-profit counseling and integrative wellness center. Our mission: We heal hearts, provide hope and enhance lives with a holistic approach to all ages, whole families, and the military community. The Director of Military and Community Programs serves as the primary contact for military and community grant program (s) management and execution. The Director of Military and Community Programs is a Samaritan Center leadership team member. The Director of Military and Community Programs is a licensed therapist who provides clinical leadership through the supervision of peers, supervision of the Care Manager and care management program, and coordination of the student intern training program.

Responsibilities:

Program Management

  • Manages both community and military grant programs and associated operations.
  • Provides administrative leadership of the Hope for Heroes and Community Program.
  • Ensures proper reporting systems are in place for all military and community contracts and grants.
  • Maintains an open line of communication with grant administration staff regarding any program-related concerns, including staffing, service delivery, technical assistance, data collection, and training.
  • Works closely with the Clinical Director, Director of Operations, and Chief Financial Officer to support clinical and administrative program requirements.
  • Generate and issue timely quarterly, monthly, and grant period participation data and financial status report(s) to designated funders.
  • Creates, maintains, and strengthens relationships with community partners, including Veteran Service Officers, military bases, and Veteran Peer Network outside Travis County, and attends community meetings and events.
  • Ensures partner agencies in the Texas Veterans and Family Alliance grant are fulfilling requirements and submitting billing on time. Reports regularly to the CEO and leadership team about community relationships and partner activities.
  • Aggregates clinical assessments and measures to ensure quality service delivery, and provide timely, and accurate reports to meet military and community grant requirements.
  • Serves as primary contact for the Baylor Scott and White primary care pilot and ensures successful implementation.
  • Serves as a community liaison to MVPN contract administrators at Integral Care and Texas Veterans Commission.
  • Ensures the Statement of Work in the Military Veteran Peer Network (MVPN) contract is complete.
  • May provide presentations internally and externally to promote programs and partnerships.

Supervision and Clinical Support

  • Direct supervision of MVPN Peer Service Coordinator.
  • Direct supervision of Certified Peer Navigator.
  • Direct supervision of Military Outreach Coordinator and Care Manager (one position).
  • May provide clinical consultation in cooperation with the Clinical Director.
  • Serves as the liaison between universities and the Samaritan Center to recruit, interview and accept student interns.
  • Coordinates onboarding and orientation of student interns.
  • Ensure appropriate supervision for all student interns, and may assist by facilitating process groups for supervisors and/or student interns.
  • Supports licensed therapists who are serving as supervisors to student interns/residents.
  • Works with Clinical Director to create an annual schedule of training to be offered to staff and assists in coordination of trainers, and documentation of CEUs for licensed staff members.

Qualifications:

  • Master's or doctoral degree from an accredited college in counseling, psychology, social work, marriage, and family therapy, or equivalent preferred.
  • Requires licensure in Texas at the time of hiring.
  • Licensure, as required for the area of clinical specialty, i.e LMSW, LCSW, LPC, Psychologist, LPC-A, or LMFT-A.
  • 2 years of experience as a program manager and supervisor preferred.
  • Ability to understand contract language and develop processes for compliance.
  • Strong organizational skills, including organization and planning skills for scheduling community and military events.
  • Comfort and skilled in representing the agency at community events.
  • Ability to establish and maintain appropriate personal and professional relationships and boundaries within and outside the Center.
  • Strong aptitude to use Microsoft Excel preferred.

Preferred Qualifications: Military veteran due to high level of involvement with military programs, (about 80% of responsibilities), supervising military staff, and coordination with agencies serving veterans and their families.
