Abilities First is seeking a Director of Quality Assurance. The Director of QA is responsible for the providing oversight and guidance for the Incident Management Program for the Abilities First Inc., responsible for conducting internal investigations and issuing recommendations for improvement. The Director of Corporate Compliance and Quality Assurance is also responsible for ensuring internal audits are completed to assist in preparing Abilities First for all external reviews conducted by OPWDD and other State Oversight Agencies.

The Director of Quality Assurance also fulfills the role of Compliance Officer, ensuring that all employees, contractors, vendors, volunteers, etc. conform to the standards of Corporate Compliance and HIPAA, as well as all regulatory requirements of our state oversight agencies, federal, state, local and municipal laws and regulations. The Director of Quality Assurance reports to the Chief Administrative Officer.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provides ongoing supervision, training, and support to the Quality Assurance Coordinators assigned to the Quality Assurance Team.
  • Monitors agency internal audits to ensure quality of care and effectiveness of compliance with OPWDD Division of Quality Improvement Reviews and OPWDD standards, audits when needed.
  • Provides oversight and monitoring of the incident management program, coordinating internal investigations and participating when needed, ensuring implementation of corrective actions.
  • Reports to the executive team on compliance issues, incident management trends, and establishing methods to improve the organization’s quality of service.
  • Act as a resourceful leader regarding regulatory compliance issues. Actively seeking up-to-date material and releases regarding regulatory compliance for the various State Oversight Agencies that monitor Abilities First Inc.
  • Develop policies and practices that encourage all employees regardless of title to report suspected fraud and other improprieties without fear of retaliation.
  • Development and implementation of policies and procedures regarding Corporate Compliance, HIPAA, FERPA, and other appropriate regulations regarding good corporate citizenship.
  • Updates the Compliance Plan as changes occur within the agency, and/or in the law and regulations or governmental and third party payers.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5 years demonstrating progressive responsibility within an agency licensed by OPWDD
  • Audit and investigation experience required
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable regulations required (OPWDD, SED and/or OCFS)
  • Must have a current NYS driver’s license, free of moving violations; deemed acceptable by our insurance carrier
  • Strong business acumen and leadership abilities, supervising and developing staff
  • Demonstrates good judgment, handles matters with sensitivity and high discretion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid NYS driver's license deemed acceptable by our insurance carrier
