Job Title: Director of Security
Department: Security
Job Objective:
Responsible for ensuring that the organization's assets are secured, and all residents and employees are safe. The Director of Security develops, implements, monitors, trains and reviews different policies and procedures for the security department and all campus.
Job Standards
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Completion of police science or security-related training (or equivalent).
  • Progressively responsible for the security safety of the St. Camillus campus.
  • Wisconsin Certified/Licensed security officer or Law enforcement professional preferred.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations, remains calm at all times and resolves problems using experience, maturity, leadership and sound judgment.
  • 5 years previous supervisory experience with a minimum of 2 in a security environment.
  • Computer knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel and Paycor systems.
  • Must posse excellent communication skills which include written, verbal and non-verbal with proven ability of accurately relating information to others in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proven knowledge of and ability to apply good management and leadership techniques, including coaching & development, change management, goal-setting and performance metrics, etc.
  • Ability to work independently an in cooperation with others.
  • Possess a broad knowledge of law enforcement methods, tactics and procedures.
  • Ability to manage, assign, complete and process work orders.
  • Flexible to work weekends to help in crisis situation or to help maintain proper security coverage for the St. Camillus campus.
  • Ability to work various shifts, including weekends to keep security staff trained and accountable.
  • Willingness to help other departments with tasks.
Essential Job Functions
  • Ensures the confidentiality of resident/client or staff records is maintained.
  • Ensures work is completed thoroughly and accurately to minimize errors.
  • Complies with all required training and participates in all mandatory meetings.
  • Provides training and information to all security officers.
  • Presents during new hire orientation and staff meetings if needed.
  • Provides security for all campus, indoors and outdoors. Reviews procedures frequently to ensure safety on campus.
  • Reviews all security reports and monitors station records.
  • Schedules staff, tracks attendance and approves timecards and paid time off.
  • Enforces disciplinary action, implements performance development and discharges when necessary.
  • Performs employee evaluations without prejudice or favoritism.
  • Assigns employees to special duties as needed.
  • Interviews and selects candidates for open positions without prejudice or favoritism.
  • Conducts internal investigations and provides proper information to needed agencies.
  • Collaborates with VP on fiscal budget for the assigned department and monitors expenses
    throughout the year. Recommends allocation of resources based on needs, outcome studies,
    resident & staff satisfaction survey results. Makes adjustments to contain expenses as needed.
  • Utilizes various means of providing effective two-way communication with staff on all shifts to
    promote effective working relationships and encourages team problem-solving in order to attain
    department and organization goals.
  • Oversees the operation of all security cameras and surveillance equipment.
  • Orders and maintains all equipment used within the department.
  • Maintains inventories all keys used on the facility.
  • Must be on call for emergencies.
  • Assists during emergencies as instructed and performs duties as assigned and in accordance with appropriate policies.
  • Audits fire safety equipment, elopement monitoring and weather radios as required.
  • Demonstrates tact, courtesy and patience when dealing with residents and employees.
  • Assists Director of Maintenance with maintenance of all security cameras.
