The Director, Programmatic Channel Planning must have a love for strategic thinking blended with an ability to roll up their sleeves and see things through to execution and optimization. They will have proven themselves as an energetic and collaborative team member with responsibilities on high performing brands/accounts. They are ready to show—and teach—junior media planning specialists how it’s done.

Ideally, the right candidate will possess an interest in healthcare and the scientific process and how to reach various audiences – from patients to healthcare professionals and everyday practitioners to thought leaders. An idea partner, they know that collaboration is key, and works in lockstep with fellow disciplines to deliver high quality work to set the tone for what performance excellence looks like.

For this role, you will be a key member of an integrated cross-functional team working to bring marketing and communications campaigns to life through paid media channels with a heavy emphasis in video, programmatic and other emerging mediums. Your task is to bridge the gap between planning via biddable, and other digital buying methods for a comprehensive channel plan that takes the best from all worlds.

As a leader on the paid media team, you must be able to collaboratively lead internal and client strategic thinking to ensure that proposed media tactics directly achieve client strategic imperatives. You must also be an effective team leader, mentoring a world-class team of cross-functional media planners and optimizers.


Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the building of strategic media plans spanning multiple ad types with both programmatic and direct buying
  • Drive thought leadership and provide direction to the broader Spectrum team on developing digital awareness & acquisition strategies for internal cross sells and net new prospective clients.
  • Act as a sponsor and point of escalation for key accounts running Programmatic
  • Provide estimates, performance modeling, DSP selection
  • Lead the development of an in-house programmatic team from the ground up and drive continuous growth
  • Implement internal processes to improve workflow and efficiency across the Programmatic team and other internal groups.
  • Help troubleshoot trafficking issues related to creative, publisher implementation & escalating to 3rd party vendors
  • Manage team bandwidth, resource planning, and account allocations
  • Provide subject matter expertise on executing programmatic and direct media campaigns across different platforms and publishers
  • Assist project management and account teams with estimation of paid media projects
  • Develop and nurture relationships with key media partners and stay on top of emerging trends, technologies, and paid media opportunities


Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in media planning and programmatic display, native, video, CTV, and audio
  • 3+ years of direct people management experience
  • Experience working with at least two of the following: DCM, DV360, The Trade Desk, Amazon DSP, StackAdapt, Simplifi, Quantcast, PulsePoint, Adelphic, DeepIntent
  • Hands on knowledge of programmatic self-service platforms including creating estimates, targeting segments etc.
  • Experience presenting programmatic and/or direct media performance and strategy in a client-facing scenario
  • Very high attention to detail and ability to synthesize large amounts of data into actionable information
  • A general understanding of Search and Social digital media tactics
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with pharmaceutical advertising
  • Hands on experience in Google Tag Manager & SA 360 Campaign Manager
  • An understanding of the leading Direct Media Publications and DSPs in the market
  • A strong POV on how data deprecation will change the Programmatic & Media landscape
  • Experience leading cross channel performance marketing efforts, or specifically leading accounts running Search & Social efforts alongside Programmatic & Media.
  • Understanding analytic platforms such as Google Analytics
  • Technical skills including HTML, JavaScript & Flash are a plus, but not a requirement
