Clinical Supply Chain Director


Job Summary:


The Director of Clinical Supply Chain provides operational leadership, strategy input and administrative direction & oversight for the Implant Supply Chain. Reporting to and under the direction of the Sr. Director, OR Inventory & Distribution, the Director implements strategies that will financially and administratively enhance OR Implant Room service by maximizing the use of resources and technology to establish appropriate inventory benchmarks, supply workflows and quality checks, and create a proactive end-to end supply chain lifecycle driven by data & analytics.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing organizational capabilities and strategies to best support HSS surgical volume growth, footprint expansion, and product mix
  • Oversee the daily activities of the Implant Room operation & resources including coordination with the Sr. Director of Orthopedic Supply Chain and Peri-Op team to ensure effective workflows and adequate product in perioperative & procedural areas
    • Direct supervision of the Inventory Management team of 4 and indirect supervision of the technical team of 14
    • Daily oversight of inventory/consignment management, scheduling, analytics, policy and procedures and Implant Tech training
    • Focus on continuous operational improvements & optimization of technology
  • Ensure efficient & timely maintenance, control & restock of all supplies/implants needed by the Clinical Team, including managing out of stock issues through coordination with Clinical Nursing management and Materials Management teams
  • Assist in managing backorders, recalls, discontinued/replaced, expiring or temporarily unavailable products monitoring
  • Oversight of tissue orders, including verification of receipt & identification of non-receipt items on a timely basis
  • Assist in maintaining and updating all policy & procedures and ensuring that the Implant Supply Chain team is versed through ongoing training
  • In conjunction with Strategic Sourcing, assist to establish strategies for supplier selection, insuring the timely delivery of products and responsibility for the clinical supply budget
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers
  • Oversight of Sales Rep operational support
  • Foster a collaborative environment among stakeholders
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across various functions
  • Promote superior customer service with a focus on employee engagement
  • Integrate cross-functional resources into cohesive teams
  • Train and assist to mentor and develop talent while promoting cohesive attitude
  • Collaborate with Information Technology team to ensure the development, and maintenance of policies that are consistent with the strategic direction of the health system
  • Manage regulatory compliance/quality assurance and ensure that operational standards follow regulatory agency requirements
  • Maintains continued education in the field of Materials Management operations through education, literature, and seminars. Assists with providing in Provides instructions and in-services of new products and/or procedures.
Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
  • Master’s Degree (preferred), Health Science/Nursing or related discipline
  • Bachelor’s Degree (required), Health Care/Business Administration

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
  • Three to five years of healthcare administration experience in peri-op departments
  • Three years Healthcare Supply Chain/Perioperative services preferred

COMPUTER PROGRAM/SOFTWARE OPERATED REQUIRED:
  • ERP & EMR Systems (preferred)
  • OR Inventory Management Applications (required)
  • MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word (required)
  • MS Access, Project and Visio (preferred)
  • Tableau (preferred)
  • Adobe applications


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Able to perform moderate to heavy lifting. Role will also require substantial physical movement across multiple floors on the main campus.

RISK OF EXPOSURE TO BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS: Category III-Tasks that involve NO exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, and Category I tasks that are not a condition of employment.
