Job requirements are:
This position is responsible for implementation of the Americans with Disability Act, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and other special education provisions; works with teachers, parents, local education agencies, and community agencies in planning and program development, obtaining professional diagnoses and assessments of disabled individuals, and developing Individual Education or Family Service Plans; maintains records and writes reports; may supervise some or all special education staff, therapists, etc. (disabilities specialist, disabilities services coordinator, director of special education, special education coordinator, special services manager). Responsible for attending transition meeting with Part C agencies, attending all IEP meetings, center observation on children that have been identified by the Denver II, teacher or parent concerns and following up on the referral of those children if observations warrant referral to the LEA Child Find office for evaluation including meeting with parent to go over referral process, obtain required parental consents, signatures and fully explain the process. Support parents and staff in implementation of IEP. Monitor and tracking related services for children with active IEP’s enrolled in the program. Supports families in transitions in and out of programs and services. In addition overseeing the compliance of teaching staff which includes classroom observation, file review in the area of education, lesson plan in implementation, teaching observations and evaluation. Will work in collaboration with education Specialist to ensure teaching staff professional development areas are identifies and any education areas of noncompliance is addressed to ensure we are providing quality teacher child interactions for all children enrolled in the program. Monitoring will happen throughout the year and include quarterly educational monitoring. Will have to become CLASS certified and conduct CLASS observations for all sites. Other related duties as assigned. Position is a member of the leadership team. Reports directly to the Program Director.
Classification Summary
Plans and implements a single, narrow focused program initiative for an identified client-oriented operational entity of the University. Participates in the generation of the program resources and in the design and development of the program operating goals, objectives, and protocols. Serves as primary point of both internal and external representation and liaison with respect to the implementation, operational matters and compliance.Provides technical/professional and programmatic guidance, consultation, and support to client constituencies .
