Thurston County Public Health and Social Services is seeking to fill two (2) Public Health Program Assistant II positions in our Disease Control and Prevention Division.

The Program Assistant II will serve in the Disease Control and Prevention (DCP) Division. They will work with and provide support to technical staff, performing a variety of both complex and routine analytical and administrative duties. Analytical tasks include collecting, compiling, and synthesizing data for various program documents, reviewing and providing feedback on project work plans and designing and maintaining spreadsheets in support of tracking systems. Administrative tasks involve scheduling briefings and meetings, maintaining program files and supporting various projects. The program assistant will also work with other staff in DCP to assist in areas such as onboarding new team members and providing overall administrative support.

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Provides analytical and research support and drafts various program documents and correspondence such as memos, waivers, and project design documents, ensuring that all documentation is complete and in compliance, regulations, and standards.
  • Communicate with clients, case managers, pharmacies, medical providers, and other professionals.
  • Use online databases to enter client information.
  • Run data reports to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and quality of the above tasks.
  • Update electronic surveillance data when client information changes. Enter laboratory reports for infectious disease data.
  • Perform various administrative support tasks as needed.
  • Provides program related administrative support to systems, databases, and file maintenance.
  • Has ability to manage and work with complex Excel spreadsheets.
  • Maintains administrative tracking systems, including spreadsheets and databases.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Four years of related office experience, which included general office practices and arithmetic, basic bookkeeping, customer service, filing, etc.
  • Must have the ability to operate a personal computer and applicable software to perform the essential job functions of the position.
