The role you’ll contribute:

The Document Support Representative, under general supervision, is responsible for the accurate and efficient processing of documents for the Central Denial Management (CDS) team. Receives and sorts incoming mail daily ensuring all correspondence, interoffice or external, is routed appropriately and efficiently. Prepares and sends all required appeal documentation for dissemination (fax, mail, certified mail, etc.) to insurance payers by matching with primary payer EOBs, medical records and other documents required by payer for proper reimbursement. Scans documents to appropriate patient account, meeting or exceeding department standards for productivity and accuracy. Adheres to AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

  • Reviews, prepares, and processes all appeal documentation produced by the CDS team, ensuring appeal packets are properly assembled and transmitted to the payer accurately and timely
  • Receives and sorts incoming mail daily ensuring all correspondence, interoffice or external, is routed appropriately and efficiently. Meets or exceeds department standard for timeliness and accuracy.
  • Adapts to periodic changes in instruction and escalates document processing issues and concerns to management
  • Reviews and processes correspondence within specified time frame and identifies payer and patient account number to ensure proper identification.
  • Performs other clerical/organizational tasks as defined by management to support greater team efficiencies
  • Populates any required document tracking mechanisms
  • Scans documents to appropriate patient account, meeting or exceeding department standards for productivity and accuracy.
  • Attaches electronic legible image of supporting documentation from scanned image, at a level which meets or exceeds department standards as outlined by Leadership.
  • Scans checks, lockbox deposits, electronic remittances, and appeal responses within accuracy and timeliness standards defined by Leadership.
  • Adheres to HIPAA regulations by verifying pertinent information to determine caller authorization level receiving information on account.

Minimum qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to use discretion when discussing employee/patient related issues that are confidential in nature
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and function in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic knowledge of Outlook
  • Ability to be responsive to ever-changing matrix of hospital needs and act accordingly
  • Self-motivated and able to work with multiple and multi-functional teams
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
