The RN Documentation Specialist is responsible for improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation. The CDI Specialist will promote partnerships between the concurrent clinical reviews, medical record coders, and physicians to improve documentation and reimbursement. The Clinical Documentation Specialist will also:

• Be responsible for reviewing medical records to identify payer populations.
• Analyze statuses of patients, current treatment plans, past medical history, and possible gaps in documentation.
• Support the accuracy and completeness of the clinical information.
• Have an understanding of nursing processes to fill in gaps with nursing knowledge.
• Understand Medical/Surgical or Emergency Medicine.
