The Donation Ambassador is responsible for organizing, managing and performing a wide variety of
donation duties in support of SPSHFH’s mission. The primary responsibility is driving company vehicles for
donation pick- ups from donor’s homes/businesses, while maintaining a friendly attitude. A Donation Ambassador
is many times, our first and only contact with a donor/customer playing an integral part in communicating
our mission and values to our guests. Ambassadors are responsible for scheduling/organizing donation
pick-ups via phone/emails or text, answering donor/customer/volunteer questions, and assisting in the Store/Warehouse as needed.


Specific Job Functions

Driving

  • Assist in developing and adhering to criteria for donated materials
  • Maintains a safe driving and working environment, including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and truck maintenance
  • Pick-up and deliver donations, using Habitat for Humanity vehicles
  • Keep trucks well maintained and clean, minor repairs as needed
  • Safely drive a box truck up to 20’ feet in length for the purpose of picking up donations,

maintaining a clean driving record - no CDL requirements

Customer Service/Communication

  • Exhibit positive working attitude by demonstrating respect for fellow employees, donors and customers
  • Present yourself in a professional manner both in personal appearance and verbally in the presence of donors, customers, volunteers and staff
  • Communicate with donors, customers and volunteers the mission of Habitat and the ability to talk about our current projects
  • Train and supervise volunteers

  • Occasionally assist in pricing of donated materials

  • Help maintain organization and cleanliness in the Habitat Store and Warehouse areas

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Commitment to the Habitat for Humanity principles and core values as well as willingness to work on a collaborative team
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license and at least one year minimum of driving experience.
  • A driving record check will be required prior to operating company vehicles
  • Willing to have a flexible schedule and able to work the hours needed to meet store needs
  • Comfortable operating mobile communication and navigation systems (smart phone, google map, donation programs, etc.)
  • Ability to accurately and safely operate store equipment such as computers, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Able to read, count, write and communicate effectively ensuring correct completion of all documentation
  • Good oral and written communication skills and an ability to relate to people with diverse backgrounds
  • Must be able to organize, plan and prioritize work to completion
  • General knowledge of building and construction a plus
  • This is a vital role in the operation of our Stores, leadership skills are a plus

Essential Physical Skills

  • Spend a majority of the work day standing and being physically active.
  • Able to lift and position at least 75 lbs. With reasonable accommodations and adhering to safety protocol at all times.
  • Ability to occasionally bend, kneel and reach.


Environmental Conditions

Most of the work day will consistent of driving, loading donations, and occasionally loading recycling items, dump runs and working in the Store/warehouse.
