Donations Manager
Position Summary: Provide excellent service to clients and guests of the La Casa by sorting, organizing, storing and distributing incoming donations in such a way that places La Casa clients and the needs of the organization first while honoring all donors and supporting partner organizations. Communicate and collaborate with Donation Specialists at the main office and Thrift Store on donation needs in order to positively impact clients, guests, donors, co-workers and communities of Dona Ana County and surrounding areas.
Hours: As assigned, 8-hour shifts, weekends and evenings required

Essential Duties
Donation Sorting & Community Outreach:
- Honor incoming donations by sorting them in a timely and careful manner.
- Treating all donations as La Casa property, ethically and honestly.
- Maintain positive relationships with existing community organizations.
- Initiate new partnerships for donation distribution when needed.
- Evaluate donations for quality and condition, separating what will be kept and what will be shared with community partners.
- Lift and move boxes/bags of donated items 35 - 60lbs.
- Occasionally dropping off donations to agreed upon locations.
Main Office - Client Donation Room:
- Provide support to Client Closet Donation Specialist in following the vision of the CEO in terms of the overall appearance and spirit of the client closet by assisting with transporting bags, sorting and distribution.
- Ensure that the outdoor/indoor spaces where donations are kept are organized, orderly, and safe.
- Arrange donation boxes, bags and large items so that the Donations Manager, Donation Specialists and/or Case Managers can get most commonly needed items in an efficient manner.
- Assess through observation and collaboration with main office and store staff as to what items are needed. In collaboration with the Thrift Store staff and Donation Specialist, respond to case manager requests for certain items such as household goods, furniture etc.
- Ensure that large items are in good condition. When sorting, assess that clothing does not have excessive pilling, tears, missing buttons, odors, heavy lint, excessive pet hair or unremovable stains.
- Categorize sorted bags for La Casa back stock in the most efficient way (size, gender, season) in an easy to understand manner and assess storage of back stock on a regular basis.
- In collaboration with donations team and other involved employees, set up systems that track the weight donations that are distributed to other organizations.Create/co-create a tracking excel spreadsheet.
Create/co-create a system to weigh items that are given out.
Tracking necessary data in an electronic system file.
- Assist donors, clients and case managers in transporting donations upon request and when appropriate.
Thrift Store Support:
- As needed, to include evenings and weekends.Sort donations in storage units, distinguishing areas of distribution (closet, store, partners).
Provide excellent customer service if called upon to assist donors and/or customers.
Assist with donation sorting at the store, if needed.
Bilingual customer service.

Training:
- Attend staff meetings and La Casa trainings approved by supervisor
- Stay abreast of best practice when working with victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
- Ongoing professional development as it pertains to clients served by La Casa.

- Willingness to grow and develop professionally.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associates Degree in related field.
- Experience: A minimum of two (2) years full-time (volunteer or paid) experience in client based, community oriented, non-profit work, or any work in the direct service to vulnerable populations.
- Substitution of education/experience on a one-for-one year basis.
- Language: Bilingual in Spanish/English highly desirable.
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
· Work Environment: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Work requires frequent bending, lifting, kneeling, standing/walking. Lifting from floor to above head to stock shelves and lifting up to 60 lbs. regularly. Occasionally pushing and pulling heavy furniture and other items in the store. When working indoors, work environment is temperature controlled, when working outdoors is subject to various weather conditions including extreme heat.
