South Texas Blood & Tissue Center (STBTC), a subsidiary of BioBridge Global, is a not-for-profit community blood center specializing in a variety of services to include providing blood, plasma, platelets and other blood components to numerous hospitals in 43 South Texas counties. STBTC is a community partner focused on enhancing health care through innovation and stewardship.

General Summary

Responsible for managing the engagement of potential Research Donor Registry participants by informing members about the studies and donation processes.

Will complete performance tasks in accordance with organizational procedures and protocols to ensure compliance and donor safety.

Provide world class customer service by capturing and being responsive to the voice of the customer (internal or external, including donors for select positions) through multiple feedback channels in order to resolve issues and drive satisfaction in accordance with the BBG customer engagement, feedback, and complaint processes.

It is essential that the incumbent have a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years old with a good driving record to meet organization driving standards.


Major Duties and Responsibilities


Essential Tasks


Identify, develop and implement creative strategies to locate and contact diverse pool of potentially eligible registry members.

Assesses inclusion and exclusion criteria for studies to ensure research subjects meet study criteria.

Manage all aspects of the search process including determining eligibility criteria, and ensuring donor signs consents and all relevant paperwork for screening process.

Responsible for monitoring individual performance to improve the STBT donor availability rates and overall productivity.

Create and maintain relationships with donors and needs of committed donors to ensure adequate capabilities and donor safety.

Maintain close working relationships with Workup Nurses, Apheresis Staff, external agencies/clients and BBG personnel.

Adhere to written procedures and protocols.

Performs all duties in a manner that protects the confidentiality of patients and does not solicit or disclose any confidential information unless it is necessary in the performance of assigned job duties.

Responsible for scheduling Information Sessions, Health History Screening Questionnaires, physicals and blood draw appointments when necessary.

Access Master Control, as needed, to enter form data and complete work.

Provide departmental support by assisting with completion of tasks as needed.

Follow confidentiality guidelines when communicating with donors, clients and BBG personnel.

Maintain professional relationship with donors, apheresis center staff, external agencies/clients and BBG personnel.

Update spreadsheets.

Transport blood samples to hospital and other labs, if necessary.

Collect required blood samples and submit to laboratories for testing.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Non-Essential Tasks

Assist other departments with clerical tasks as needed.

Run departmental errands as directed.


Education

Requires a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.

Prefer an Associate Degree from an accredited technical/vocational institute, college or university.


Licenses and/or Certifications

Texas Operators Driver’s License

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred


Experience

No prior specific work experience required.

Prefer two or more years of blood center, nonprofit, or healthcare work experience.

Prefer phlebotomy skill experience.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.


Knowledge

Must maintain knowledge of and perform according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.

Must obtain and maintain a working knowledge of search, workup and donation phases of the Center for Advanced Therapies operations.

Must acquire and maintain a working knowledge of accessing web-based programs and software.


Skills

Must be capable of operating motor vehicles in all types of weather conditions.

Must have strong computer skills.

Bilingual in English/Spanish is helpful.

Must possess strong organizational, customer service, and troubleshooting skills.

Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Must be a self-starter and self-directed worker.

Must be able to keep information confidential.

Must be neat in appearance and well groomed.

Must be professional, detail oriented, self-motivated, innovative, creative, assertive, organized, communicative, and have the ability to work independently.

Must have the ability to answer telephones and greet the public in a friendly and courteous manner.


Working Environment

Works in a well-lighted, air conditioned and heated office.

May be exposed to electrical and chemical hazards and other conditions common to an office environment.

May be required to work at any time of the day, evening or night during the week or weekend.

Ability to use personal motor vehicle for company business required.
