Job Title: Draftsman

Location: Midland, TX

Must reside in commutable distance of Midland, TX. (This is an onsite role, Remote & Hybrid work is not available.)

Prior experience in Industrial Manufacturing Operations (Vessel, Tanks, Heat Exchangers, Pumps, Valves, Mechanical Equipment, etc. background is preferred)

Industrial Steel Manufacturing, Production, Machining (CNC & Manual) and Fabrication (Welding, Metal Cutting, Metal Forming) experience is preferred.

A company with over 30 years in Gas Processing & Treating Plant Sales, Manufacturing, Construction and Operation is hiring a Highly Experienced Drafter.

The Draftsman is responsible for producing accurate and timely drawings. Act as liaison between shop fabrication and engineering, and report/inform shortcomings.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Basic understanding of P&ID common practices
  • Basic knowledge of ASME Code and calculations
  • Basic wind & Seismic calculation knowledge and an understanding of the program used
  • Basic knowledge on how a gas plant operates
  • Basic knowledge of how to create pipe specs and/or read customer specs
  • Very detail oriented

P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams)

  • Stay consistent on Drawings (Ex: Equipment Blocks, Process lines)
  • Create & Organize P&ID with great clarity
  • Catch items that engineer missed
  • Communicate with Pipe Designers & Pipe Fitters changes on P&ID

Vessels

  • Knowledge of ASME Code
  • Code Calculation Knowledge
  • Internal Drawing Interpretation
  • Design Vessel with minimal welding
  • Design internals so that it does not interfere with nozzle I.S.
  • Orientate Vessel to work best for everybody: (Plant Layout, Hydro Purposes, Shipping)
  • Dress out Vessel per P&ID with correct fittings required. We have time now.
  • Accurate nozzle schedules per P&ID with correct thickness, weld size, etc.
  • Accurate BOMS
  • Great details for little questions with shop
  • Issue all drawings that need to go through shop 2-3 weeks before start date.
  • Issue all drawings required per vessel (Ex: D.Cs., Davits, Bridles)
  • Coordinate with shop on how to design better for future vessels.
  • Coordinate with QC on how to minimize weld size.
  • Wind & Seismic calculation knowledge. Know what number in program mean.

Piping & Structural

  • Mid-Level Manager
  • Catch anything that does not look right on P & IDs while pipe designing
  • Catch anything on vessel orientation, elevation that’s wrong
  • Complete drawings that help workflow go fast. (Ex: issue total BOMs, structural drawings, ISOs)
  • Keep pipe ISO production spreadsheet up to date & organized
  • Create accurate shipping lists
  • Knowledge of how to create pipe specs, read customer specs
  • Coordinate with fitters on how to optimize pipe & skid design
  • Export accurate BOMS
  • Knowledge on how plant operates

Purchasing

  • Create accurate BOMs for purchasing of all construction materials

Review checklist

  • Ensure all design/quality approvals before issuing for construction

IFC/Revision Drawings

  • Notify ALL included people of IFC and Revision Drawings
