Position: E Sports - 2 positions

Location: OHS4% of Base for Each Season.
Three Seasons Fall, Winter, and Spring.

  • Adhere to the mission statement of the Iowa High School Esports Association:
  • To support safe and competitive environments for Iowa high school students while promoting team building, communication and critical thinking through esports programs. These programs will provide an opportunity for more students to feel connected to school as well as provide future opportunities in the fields of technology and esports.
  • Understand that the fundamental purpose of the IAHSEA is to create and support a community for students.
  • Stay up to date with information from the IAHSEA. All DECs are responsible for:
  • Regularly checking the website for the most up to date information.
  • Being accountable for all rules and procedures in titles they are competing in.
  • Be an active member of the IAHSEA Discord, meaning keeping abreast of all information announced through the Discord, including announcements, roster submissions, and schedules.
  • Ensuring their coaching staff is aware and up to date on schedules and rules (to be clear, a DEC can serve as both DEC and coach).
  • Lead by example, meaning that all DECs are responsible for creating the climate in which all member schools and students play. It is expected that each DEC will:
  • Support and encourage positive interactions within and without their own teams.
  • Actively monitor and discourage negative online communications.
  • Report and make the proper channels aware of harassment or toxicity.
  • Not allow or knowingly allow students, coaches, or themselves to cheat to gain a competitive advantage over an opponent.
  • Verify all students remain eligible for play, in accordance with IAHSEA Expectations of a Student-Athlete
  • Respect all. From the IAHSEA Executive Committee to opponents, DECs should:
  • Use appropriate language at all times
  • Not use content streams, media, or social outlets to distress any member of any team.
  • Field a competitive team for all scheduled events.
  • Schools are allowed one forfeit per season without penalty.
  • Programs who have an established pattern of forfeits will be reviewed by the Executive Team.
  • Be empowered to create, communicate, and enforce high expectations for conduct of student-athletes.
  • Upon gaining full membership status, vote in all membership-required ballots and attend the IAHSEA Annual Meeting (either held in person or virtually each year in June).
