Early Childhood Therapist
Reports to: Dir. of Group Programming and Community Outreach
Position Status: Full-time, Salary, Non-exempt
Momentous Institute is seeking an experienced, licensed play therapist to join our clinical team. Founded in 1920, Momentous Institute is committed to offering mental health and education services that are systemic, trauma-informed, and include brain and strengths-based perspectives. We offer comprehensive mental health services annually to over 3,000 children and family members. The Role: The Early Childhood Therapist will provide play, individual and family therapy to children ( primarily ages 6 and under) and families seeking services for a variety of concerns. Services take place at both Momentous Institute locations ( 9705 Harry Hines Blvd. and 106 E. Tenth Street; Dallas) as well as off site with community partners as needed. The therapist will provide programming support for children and their families enrolled in the Launch program– a group therapy program for young children presenting with significant behaviors of dysregulation. As well as provide supervision to graduate level trainees working with the Therapeutic Services team, particularly those interested in learning play therapy and/or working with young children.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including psychologists, clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors, and teachers to ensure families seeking services receive high quality, integrated care.
- Work in collaboration with Momentous School to support the needs of referred students from grades pre-k to 2nd, their families, and teachers.
- Participate in program evaluation efforts within the organization.
- Provide consultation as needed to educators and other caregivers involved in clients’ care.
- Initiate individual or team case consultation as needed.
- Stay informed of developments in theory and practice through opportunities for continuing education.
- Demonstrate comfort providing presentations for small to mid-sized audiences about clinical work.
- Maintain and organize electronic clinical charts with current treatment plans, progress notes and other documentation required by clinical licensure.

- Perform other duties as assigned by program director.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in behavioral sciences from an accredited university with a Texas license to practice therapy (e.g., LPC, LMFT, LCSW).
- Registered Play Therapist (RPT) certification or play therapy experience required.
- Ability (via state licensing) to supervise students required.
- Minimum of three years’ experience working with children ages 6 and under.
- Applicants fluent in both English and Spanish are encouraged to apply.
- Able to work with clients/colleagues of diverse ethnic/socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Values self-reflection and open discussion of clinical work with colleagues.
- Willing to work flexible hours to accommodate evening appointments.
- Willing to work in multiple locations, including community partner sites as needed.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $73,000.00 per year
