In the Economics and Damages practice for BRG, we advise and provide our clients with analyses for expert testimony in antitrust, class action, damages analysis, data analytics, false advertising, intellectual property, commercial litigation, and public policy matters. Led by experts in their disciplines, our teams have conducted a wide range of complex quantitative and qualitative analyses that have been presented in federal and state courts; before national and international arbitration panels; and before the Department of Justice, Federal Trade Commission, and Federal Communications Commission, among others.

Job Responsibilities

The Associate and Senior Associate staff positions require a highly motivated problem solver with strong data analytical ability and a desire to advance within the organization by furthering analytical skills. Consultants can expect to work with a number of experts and senior staff depending upon the timing of the projects, needs, and prerequisite skills that are required on them. Responsibilities and work experiences may include but are not limited to the following:

• Process, synthesize, summarize, and analyze large datasets across multiple sources and formats utilizing R and SQL.
• Develop and maintain electronic databases, spreadsheets and other files as dictated by project needs.
• Communicate the results of analyses for experts and clients via tables, figures, charts, and other data visualizations generated in R.
• Assisting in the preparation of expert reports and other client deliverables when required.
• Perform detailed research and analysis, then put the results into action (e.g., gather, review, and data from the public domain, specialized industry resources, or client, public and commercial databases).
• Demonstrate creativity and efficient use of relevant software tools, analytical methods, and computer models to develop solution.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
• Audit own work product and work product of others to assure quality.
• Participate in a team environment and work hard to meet client deadlines and quality expectations.
• Self-motivated and works well independently.
• Participate in group practice meetings and travel as needed.

Qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in the area of economics; preferably a focus in agriculture and environmental science; PhD, ABD or someone that has been admitted to a decorated program is highly preferred;
• Minimum one (1+) years of experience data programming using R;
• Must be intellectually curious and interested in looking beyond the data;
• Additional experience with other data programming languages such STATA, and/or R;
• Experienced analyzing large, complex datasets with millions of records; and
• Must have oral and written communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
