POSITION REQUIREMENTS / EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Some college experience required, bachelor’s degree in science, education, business, or related field preferred. Previous museum or similar experience preferred. Ideal candidate works well in a dynamic, collaborative team environment; is flexible and organized; and possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate activation requests and financial / attendance information leading to and reporting on Education Program activations.
- Manage communications platforms with Guests seeking COSI program information and correspondence.
- In collaboration with Finance and Call Center, establish and maintain reporting processes to reconcile attendance and participation data, invoices and reservation information.
- Spend 25% of the time educating and interacting with COSI Guests through delivering exceptional service and performances for guests of all backgrounds and abilities.
- Provide innovative learning experiences throughout the COSI building, including through performances that showcase new exhibits, COSI partnerships, COSI Connects offerings, and other COSI education efforts.
- Work collaboratively with resources such as Director of Diversity and Equity; Manager of Early Childhood Education; and Manager of Special Education Experiences and Strategies to provide a deeper and more equitable education experience onsite and online.
- Serve as member of the Education Team in onsite, offsite and online delivery of content and programming.
- Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the onsite education curriculum including:
- Philosophy, policies, and educational methods and techniques.
- Function, performance, and operation of all exhibits, theaters, and program elements.
- Setup, cleanup, maintenance, and emergency procedures.
- Work collaboratively with the Department of Business Development to support business growth opportunities.
- Work collaboratively across the department to implement areas around the COSI Living Collection and Education Experiences.
- Support general COSI operations through participation in meetings and development functions, such as all team meetings, as appropriate.
- Work as part of the training team for all part-time and volunteer Team Members, creating and maintaining all training materials for defined areas of responsibility, conducting training, and providing evaluations and coaching as needed.
- Serve as an example to other COSI Team Members in matters of appearance, attitude and performance in the mode that best serves COSI's Team Members and Guests.
- Perform other administrative duties within the scope of position as assigned by the Director of Education Partnerships and Senior Director of Education Engagement.
