Job Title: Assistant Educational Incentive Program Coordinator

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting the Educational Incentive Program Coordinator with day-to-day program operations. This position will assist Tribal Members with enrollment in the GED Preparation classes held at Administration, or assist Tribal Members requesting access to the Sylvan Learning Center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Works with Tribal Members seeking to obtain their GED; answers questions and provides information regarding the GED Preparation Program or other programs offered through the Educational Incentive Program.
2. Assists Tribal Members with completing enrollment materials. Ensures that enrollment materials are provided to the vendor/contractor providing services.
3. Coordinates class times, dates for the GED Preparation classes with the vendor/contractor of record.
4. Maintains contact with the Tribal Member enrollees and informs them about class schedules, changes, etc. Reminds them about class times to encourage participation and attendance.
5. Coordinates and schedules classroom location and ensures it is set up and ready for classes.
6. Assists Program Coordinator in maintaining files for each student, containing grades, attendance, and any other information needed to assess a student’s eligibility for program incentives.
7. Develops and maintains student file database for the GED Preparation Program.
8. Assists the Program Coordinator with day-to-day duties such as check requests, ordering of office supplies, photocopy projects, budget modifications, ARFs, etc.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of four years of progressively responsible work duties in an administrative capacity coordinating moderately complex activities, keeping records, logs and other documents; or satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience. Intermediate computer skills in Word, Excel, Access are required.

Other Skills
Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
Must be able to determine priorities and demonstrate strong organizational skills.
Must be able to communicate effectively with Tribal Members and those doing business with the Tribe to convey accurate information.
Must be courteous and tactful.
Must maintain confidentiality at all times.
Must demonstrate strong customer service skills.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Licenses and Certifications
Must have and maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s License and proof of automobile insurance. Driver’s License must not contain any restrictions that would otherwise prevent an employee from driving a GSA vehicle.
