This recruitment will be used to fill three part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Office Assistant positions for the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at Oregon State University (OSU).
The OSU OSU School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is looking for students to work at the front reception desk answering questions either over the phone or in person for a high-volume school. This position will work in a team environment comprised of other students and full-time staff.
Position Duties
The OSU OSU School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is looking for students to work at the front reception desk answering questions either over the phone or in person for a high-volume school. This position will work in a team environment comprised of other students and full-time staff.
50%:
- Greeting customers at the EECS front reception desk, answering questions either over the phone or in person.
- Checking in students for advising appointments.
- Clerical work such as scanning, copying, and updating spreadsheets and other EECS documents.
- Opening and closing the EECS main office space.
- Distributing mail and packages; ordering office supplies as directed by the office manager; and general office work.
40%:
- Assisting with EECS events; cleaning conference rooms and atrium; removing recyclable cardboard; scheduling conference rooms; and granting key card access to KEC as directed by the office manager.
- Scanning of student-related documents into the On-Base system.
10%: Other duties as assigned

Additional Required Qualifications
- Great communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
- Must be able to complete FERPA training within 5 days of starting position.
- This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
- Students enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits at OSU or other educational institutions.
- Previous office experience is preferred, but not required.
- Database experience.
- Previous experience answering a high volume of questions either on the phone or in-person.
- Accurate keyboarding, data entry skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office software including Word, Outlook, Excel.
- A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
- Occasional lifting may be required with the moving of office furniture up to 25lbs.
- Performs general office work such as copying filing, sorting, and scanning.
