POSITION SUMMARY
The Electrical Designer creates, modifies and maintains electrical drawings and engineering documents to support engineering and manufacturing projects and activities throughout the bearings production plant. The Designer works closely with other engineers and technicians to design industrial control, electrical distribution and data transmission systems for both new equipment and modifications to existing equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Design Engineer routinely performs the following:
- Collaborate with engineers and technical staff to design and create new electrical drawings for equipment and systems developed internally at Amsted.
- Modify and verify the accuracy of existing electrical drawings based on changes to equipment and systems.
- Review and verify the accuracy of vendor-provided drawings and documents for externally sourced equipment and systems. Ensure drawings conforms to Amsted standards. Upload documentation into the engineering document repository using appropriate references and master data.
- Survey and verify to ensure current drawings match installed equipment.
- Participate in engineering project team meetings to develop system and equipment requirements and detailed designs.
- Specifies, recommends and selects electrical components such as field devices, power supplies, PLCs, relays, switches, transmitters, cables, indicators, drive motors, etc. for use in equipment and systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, with two years of related experience, Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering with five years of related experience or seven years of electrical designer experience.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical software.
- Thorough understanding of applicable industry standards including NFPA 70 and NFPA 79.
- Ability to identify field devices for verification and generation of schematics.
- Experience with engineering document revision and control software, such as AutoDesk Vault.
- Willingness to travel, including occasional international travel.
