Summary:

  • Design, develop, test or oversee the installation of electrical test systems for new product development of power generation equipment. Day to day support of product development testing. The ability to make engineering drawings and read and interpret schematics. The technical skills include the ability to apply the principles of electrical theory and have experience using computer applications related to the engineering field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define, design, develop, modify, and document test systems for power generation equipment for new and existing products.
  • Provide day to day test support for individual test areas and engineering groups.
  • Analyze product testing to champion test improvements to increase test coverage, quality of test, increase right first time results, reduce test time.
  • Estimate time and cost to complete projects.
  • Simulate and test machine or system operation.
  • Provide electrical engineering liaison between other global Cummins Power Systems technical centers and Cummins Power Systems Test Technology in Fridley, MN, USA

Skills – Technical/Functional:

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years Electrical Engineering experience.
  • Test instrumentation, measurement and control theory. Good working knowledge of electrical power measurement methods and electrical power instrumentation (CTs, PTs, power meters, DMMs, micro-ohmmeter, scope-meters, etc)
  • Data acquisition concepts and implementation.
  • Knowledge of electrical power components such as transformers, alternators, power circuit protection devices and ANSI protective relay device numbering. Low voltage and medium voltage equipment is tested at this facility.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as: RS485, Modbus and TCP/IP, etc.
  • Industrial controls design and programming skills (PLC and HMI programming).
  • Computer skills (MS Office, Linux operating system and shell commands, AutoCAD experience).
  • Good general troubleshooting skills a must.
