Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
I. POSITION OBJECTIVE (State the purpose of this job and reason for existence)
This position exists to optimize the utilization of physical assets and technology resources to
manufacture the highest quality products in the most efficient and effective manner, reduce costs and
increase operating profit. The Electrical Engineer increases productivity and adds value by
integrating plant assets, personnel, technology, energy, effective maintenance, instrumentation,
production, material flow processes, while sustaining a safe and healthful working environment that
meets environmental, health and safety regulatory and Company requirements.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY (Describe major functions of this job)
Equipment Reliability:
Provide Electrical Maintenance support to the Unit, which will enable the Unit to achieve smooth
operation, manufacture high-quality products and avoid unscheduled process interruptions. This will
be achieved by utilizing industries' best practices, benchmarking, and planning, abnormal analysis,
and initiation and maintenance procedures.
Maintenance Performance:
Communicate and work with Operations continuously to establish equipment criticality and providing
standby equipment for critical equipment. Historical files shall be established and well-maintained to
correct diagnoses of equipment failures and performance of equipment maintenance.
Maintenance Support:
Provide electrical support to the operations unit to ensure compliance with State and Federal
Environmental Regulations, including Preventative Maintenance, backup up programs, and
supporting technician as needed, and any other activity assigned by the Unit Manager.
Lead and Facilitate:
Review abnormalities to improve the overall performance of the instrumentation in the unit. Work
with other area departments to enhance product quality and plant reliability.
COST CONTROL:
Manage Maintenance Unit costs as measured by Monthly Management Reports Analysis of cost
deviations and causes of costs; initiation of cost efficiencies; identification of inefficiencies and
recommendations to correct; analyze budget trends, develop and recommend budget requirements;
control overtime to below 3%.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
A. TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA (Minimal Technical Requirements)
1. Previous Related Experience Required
0-3 years’ experience in electrical or instrumentation Maintenance or other plant manufacturing is required
2. Technical Skills Required To Perform This Job
Mathematical skills, computer skills, Microsoft office, basic understanding of electrical circuits, technical writing skills.
3. Education (Minimal Education Needed)
BS in Electrical Engineering.
