Service Center Metals, a rapidly growing, state-of-the-art aluminum DC casting and extrusion operation, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer in our Prince George, VA plant.

The Electrical Engineer will lead, manage, and execute electrical projects for an aluminum extrusion and billet producer. This role will collaborate with company team members to develop and solve technical issues within plant’s automated control systems. Additionally, the role involves project management for new electrical systems and developing continuous improvement projects within the facility.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide cradle-to-grave management support for capital projects.
• Support continuous improvement by analyzing plant processes and executing well-engineered solutions.
• Work with maintenance and operations to detect (prevent) problems and implement solutions.
• Provide support to maintenance and operations including on-call and call-in duties when necessary.
• Work with maintenance team to plan and implement preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Maintain plant quality and safety standards.
• Document and maintain process parameters and setpoints.
• Maintain plant drawings and manage revision documentation.
• Coordinate with maintenance on automation FMEA as well as Preventative and Predictive Maintenance.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering / Electrical Engineering Technology. In lieu of a BS, an AS degree with relevant experience will be considered.
• 5+ years of experience in a relevant field; manufacturing experience preferred; metals industry experience a plus
• PLC Programming (ladder logic, structured text, add-on instructions, custom data sets). Allen-Bradley, Siemens
• Project Management experience on medium-scale (> $1MM) capital projects including specifications, regulatory oversight, vendor supervision, construction management, and commissioning.
• Demonstrated knowledge of NFPA 70 & NFPA 70E
• Low Voltage Power Distribution experience including one-line diagrams, fault studies, and arc flash
• Drives/Servo (commissioning, programming, maintenance, troubleshooting) expertise with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, SEW Eurodrive
• HMI design and implementation (screen design, alarming, recipes, Sql interfacing). RSView, WinCC, WonderWare, Ignition
• Robotic Packing and Printing (cell design, commissioning, programming, maintenance). Fanuc
• Instrumentation Calibration (mA, V, mV, RS232)
• Drafting in both ANSI and ISO standards (schematics, interconnections, layouts, version control). AutoCAD 2D & 3D
• Industrial Networking (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, DeviceNet, ControlNet, RS-485, RS-422)
• PID Loop Control
• Sql (PLC recipe, historian maintenance, stored procedures). MS Sql, WonderWare Historian, FT Transaction Manager
