Electrical Engineer - Design & Release

The Vehicle Electrification Engineer is responsible for being a key member in the research and application of new and existing electrical vehicle technologies. Specifically, we are seeking an individual that can help execute strategic vehicle electrification roadmaps based on motors, lithium batteries, chargers, transaxles, power distribution, market requirements and competitive benchmarking. We are looking for high-energy engineering talent to help drive growth through researching latest electrical component technologies, creating price trend charts and determining high quality partners. The ideal candidate is an individual possessing a passion for learning, change, team spirit, and enthusiasm. In this Engineering roll, individuals will have the authority, support, and autonomy to execute the vision as well as establishing themselves as high-respected leaders.

The position offers the opportunity to be an electric vehicle engineer and work on a variety of growth initiatives in the electric vehicle space. The position requires the passion for learning about vehicle electrical systems, supplier interactions, design and release of electrical systems, and participate on projects in accordance with engineering excellence.

Expectations:

  • Lead the design and release of electrical components including motors, controllers, lithium batteries, transaxles, harnesses, chargers for new product development projects.
  • Develop and maintain a vehicle and component electrical specification and qualification plan.
  • Drive diligence and collaboration in requirements, risk analysis, DFMEA, DVP&R and specifications.
  • Employ project management methodologies that ensure a predictable outcome for department goals and responsibilities.
  • Remove roadblocks and accelerate implementation of projects.
  • Develop technology roadmaps and strategies that clearly articulate how we are going to continuously win in chosen markets.
  • Drive culture of traceable test acceptance criteria using reliability and confidence in designs.
  • Work with designers, lab technicians and other team members.
  • Understand future agency and regulatory standards that affect your product.
  • Achieve scheduled milestones for assigned projects.
  • Effectively self-manage small projects
  • Continuously raise your level of leadership, authority, and influence.
  • Embrace the empowerment you have as a key member of an exciting product growth team.

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering equivalent is required and 0+ years’ experience is recommended.

Knowledge in the following areas are beneficial, but not a necessity:

  • Lithium batteries
  • AC motors
  • Battery chargers
  • Harness and power distribution
  • Strong passion to learn and grow with inherent curiosity.

  • Technical, analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to follow internal engineering design processes and best practices.

  • Competency in Microsoft products including, Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of the Engineering financial impact and a basic understanding of the needs and impact of other functions on the business
