Job Title: Electrical Engineer II

Location: Buffalo Grove, IL

Asmt Length: 6 to 12 months (Temp-to-Perm)

Electrical Engineer

Summary:

  • • Responsible for the design of and development of new electrical products and provides engineering support for RICON’s door and relay and contactor product lines. Designs, analyzes, and troubleshoots electromechanical systems. Works as an integral part of RICON’S Engineering Group.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • • Working knowledge of electric circuit design including integrated circuits, microprocessors, motor control circuitry, power supplies, I/O circuitry, communications etc.
  • • Troubleshoots and evaluates customer product returns that require engineering review as well as technical analysis and troubleshooting of simple and complex electrical systems
  • • Knowledge of electrical test equipment including multi-meters, analyzers, loggers, oscilloscopes etc.
  • • Knowledge of electromechanical component basics and fundamentals of operation (e.g., solenoids, relays, motors etc.)
  • • Designs and develops electrical products by studying customer specifications, technical requirements, researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.
  • • Demonstrates good communication skills and communicates regularly with fellow employees, and customers

Secondary Competencies, Duties and Responsibilities:

  • • Leadership skills to support and assist supervisor and co-workers to meet deadlines
  • • Working knowledge of FPGA’s and VHDL
  • • Prepares electrical wiring diagrams and schematics for system, subsystem and component level door equipment applications.
  • • Designs wire harnesses and routings to satisfy the requirements of mobile environment applications.
  • • Prepares electro-mechanical system test procedures for routine / in process production testing as well as new product validation test plans
  • • Participates in technical discussions and / or correspondence with customer’s technical liaison

Tertiary Competencies, Duties and Responsibilities:

  • • Responsible for the day-to-day engineering support of RICON’S Door and Relay and Contactor product lines including drawing and design updates as required as well as maintenance of relay and contactor data base.
  • • Working knowledge of embedded programming

Complimentary skills and / or experience (not mandatory):

  • • Working knowledge of common electrical / mechanical design software including Pro E, Pro Cable, AutoCAD, OrCAD is a plus.
  • • Knowledge of systems and schematics specific to the transportation (bus & rail) industry a plus. This includes but is not limited to door systems and general vehicle power distribution and multiplex systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in electrical engineering, from four-year college or university; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • • Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.

  • • Math Ability:

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis.

  • • Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • • Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Inventory software; Internet software; Order processing systems; Project Management software; Manufacturing software; Database software and Contact Management systems.

Physical Demands:

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Work Environment:

  • • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.

Pay: $40.00 - $44.20 per hour
