POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:
ED Coordinators are one of the Emergency Center's first line of contact with emergency patients, patient families, physicians, nurses, paramedics, police officers and other para‑medical personnel both in‑house and outside the hospital. This is an excellent position for someone who possesses a high degree of public contact skills.
ED Coordinators are responsible for entering patient care data, ordering tests as directed, chart processing, admitting patients, screening and answering phone calls, as well as other tasks as assigned. Coordinates patient flow and assists physicians and nurses with all aspects of patient care. ED Coordinators tasks must be constantly prioritized and executed quickly and accurately.
Regions Hospital is one of only three hospitals in Minnesota that is verified as a Level I Trauma Center for both adults and for children with the expertise and technology to treat the most serious injuries 24/7. Our Emergency Department is designed to treat patients in acuity-based care pods. You'll find yourself in a fast-paced environment with over 90,000 ED visits per year.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:

• High school graduate required.

Experience:

• Previous experience or recent education (within one year) with office procedures and equipment.
• Computer experience and knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Previous customer service experience that includes personal interactions, both in person and on the phone, problem solving and skill in balancing the need of guests, patients and colleagues required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• This position requires an extensive knowledge of EPIC electronic medical record system, Vocera communication device use, EPIC Identity proficiency, as well as PC and printer hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
• Strong typing ability is also required.
• Must possess a high degree of public contact skills.
• Demonstrates exceptional customer service skills.
• Effectively and respectfully responsive to patients and families.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff, families and patients, in a stressful setting.
• Able to monitor the electronic systems to ensure patient care and flow are managed.
• English proficient, both verbally and written word.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word.
• Knowledge in use of patient information, fax, printer, phone, paging and other technology systems, or is able to show ability to learn those systems quickly.
• Demonstrates understanding of patient rights and HIPAA.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

• Education or experience in health care field is preferred.
• HUC Certification is recommended.
