Education and Experience: A High School Diploma or GED, and two (2) years of general work experience, including one (1) year of direct contact with the public, emergency response, contact tracing, education outreach, or specimen collection experience.

Licenses and Certificates: Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state.

Under indirect supervision, as assigned, perform a variety of support tasks in the response and recovery from emergencies and disasters.

Perform a variety of tasks supporting the response and recovery from emergencies and disasters. Involves: Coordination of activities in the areas of emergency preparedness, mitigation, response, logistics, finance, and recovery efforts to reduce the impact of emergencies and disasters on people, property and the environment. Assist with purchasing and inventory of supplies, delivery and/or dissemination of supplies, and record keeping. Support warning and evacuation to the community and at-risk populations. Observe and report hazardous weather conditions. Conduct field damage assessments. Gather and analyze data. Prepare status reports and preliminary damage assessments during emergencies.

Serve as a shelter worker during a natural disaster, emergency or humanitarian relief operation. Involves: Working in reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information gathering, and other key duty areas within a shelter. Provide activities and services in a congregate setting to include: feeding, sheltering, reunification, cleaning/sanitizing, laundry, making travel arrangements for clients, and distribution of supplies, clothing, hygiene kits and other essential items. Provide victim support services for those impacted by emergencies and disasters. Follow-up assistance, support and advocacy for those impacted by an emergency or disaster. Assess needs and connect clients to resources within community. Provide preparedness education programming to the community to help individuals prepare for emergencies and other disasters.

Perform a variety of tasks supporting test collection sites, education and contact tracing during a public health emergency. Provide client registration and education to clients who come to a COVID-19 or other communicable disease specimen collection site. Provide outreach and cluster management for COVID-19 or other communicable diseases. Provide active contact trace investigation and surveillance for COVID-19 or other communicable diseases. Provide support activities for isolation and quarantine facilities.
