EMS Community Liaison

Position Summary
The Division of Allied Health Sciences is seeking Adjunct Faculty to serve as EMS Community Liaisons. As a Liaison, you work with students in the paramedic program to provide the knowledge and training they need to be successful in their chosen career. In this position you will help mentor and facilitate active learning for an assigned group of students to ensure they remain on task with clinical requirements, online course work, and continuous skill development. This position will also provide valuable feedback and input for improvement of the program or needs for additional lecture or skill development, This position will serve as a liaison between our current paramedic students employed at the liaison’s respective station.
Duties and Responsibilities
Typical duties of the liaison include but aren't limited to:
- Become familiar with the curriculum and syllabus,
- Evaluate students’ progress identifying strengths, challenges, and gaps in student learning. Report needs to the program director
- Promote successful completion of the program through responsive mentoring on how to be successful in an accelerated paramedic program
- Coach students to explore alternative to overcome barriers to persistence and graduation. Refer students to the program director for possible academic supports (ie. Accessibility services)
- Provide tutoring, as needed
- Attend scheduled faculty meetings
- Other duties, as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma required
- Associates Degree or higher preferred
- Paramedic Certification (NREMT or WV) required
- Industry recognized Instructor Certification (NAEMSE or WVDE) preferred
Experience
- 2 years related experience in EMS required
- Teaching experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely while speaking and in writing
- Ability to teach utilizing real-world experience
- Can utilize email and Blackboard (our learning management system)
- Demonstrated passion about academic field and education in general
Adjunct pay dependent on degree level.
