Business Need / Purpose of Role:
The Engineer is responsible for the design, production support, and sales support of Weir products while considering functionality, manufacturing, cost, installation and safety in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Objectives & Measurement
Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities:
- Produce detailed reports of changes to Engineering documents for use in the production and installation of parts and assemblies.
- Assist with measurements and customer meetings as required during engineering projects.
- Use knowledge of computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software.
- Draft and create routine to moderately complex part and assembly drawings, sketches, and installation instructions.
- Visit customer sites, take measurements and create drawings from sketches and other sources.
- Create detailed part and assembly drawings for installation and ensuring accuracy and quality on a daily basis.
- Prepare drawings and product structures for engineering approval to current department standards.
- Assist other Designers and Engineers providing guidance and checking of design work
- Complete Drawing Revisions (DR) as required.
- Provide technical support to Engineering and Sales and Marketing in a timely manner.
- Research existing designs and product structures as reference materials for new design requests.
- Capable of creating technical presentations and assist in the preparation of manuals on an as needed basis.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Regular and reliable attendance is key to performance of this job.
- Comply with all Engineering Department and Company policies, procedures, and programs.
- Promote and maintain a flexible, cooperative, team oriented, and customer focused attitude within and between departments.
- Keep Manager aware of pertinent issues and information warranting Manager’s knowledge, action and/or resolution.
- Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology

Education and/or Experience:
1-3 years of relevant experience in a production environment
Prior experience with rubber/molding preferred
Ability to create layouts with limited direction based upon a good understanding of the product and sound mechanical aptitude
Ability to consider several approaches to solving a problem and reason through the best approach
Physical Demands:
- Sit, talk, hear, and/or use hands to handle and touch objects
- Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and peripheral vision, and depth perception
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
