Engineering Development (Rotational) Program
Job description
Opportunity for an early career Engineer to join our Engineering Development Program (EDP). The Engineering Development Program (EDP) provides on the job professional development through immersive experiential learning in a 24-month rotational program. The program is designed to accelerate development of engineers by providing 3 rotations in core engineering functional areas such as New Product Development, Research and Development, Quality, and Manufacturing. As a full-time associate within the EDP, you will be provided impactful assignments with real business impact. This program will build your technical skills, business acumen and leadership potential which will help you be successful in a role with Portescap following program completion.
What You’ll Do
- Complete 3 of the 4 possible rotational assignments; each approximately 8 months in length with ability to present experience and reflections to the leadership team at regular intervals
- Deliver specific and measurable results in accordance with unique goals for each rotational assignment
- Listed below are the main activities included in each of the 4 possible rotation options
New Product Development Rotation
- Develop the manufacturing process for new brushless DC motor products
- Create and execute validation plans based on customer requirements and project needs
- Collect, organize, and analyze data and operator feedback to identify and address build issues
Manufacturing Rotation
- Perform root cause & countermeasure analysis (RCCM’s) of internal quality issues
- Perform basic troubleshooting / repairs of equipment in area of ownership
- Conduct process improvement activities
Quality Rotation
- Evaluate Supplier corrective action reports to ensure effectiveness
- Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) to disposition defective inventory
- Analyze Customer Returns to verify motor failure modes and assist with failure analysis
- Perform analysis & trend review of Portescap inspection and scrap data
Research and Development Rotation
- Participate in product design of Brushless DC motors and gearheads
- Help design processes for new products, including tooling and prototype design
- Complete problem-solving process: define problem statements, identify root-cause, and create counter measures
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- Strong academic performance (3.0 cumulative GPA or higher preferred)
- Minimum of one completed internship/co-op with relevant work experience related to your field of study
