Ready to take your leadership career to the next level? We’re looking for an Engineering Director with a background in Data Engineering and/or Data Analytics to lead our core data platform. The Data and Analytics Platform empowers Yelp to make quick and informed decisions about our product and business. As a leader in this space, you will scale large, complex, cross-platform experimentation systems and data pipelines. These pipelines power metrics which enable data scientists and product managers to make go/no-go decisions on every feature we ship them to the Yelp app
— putting you and your teams at the very center of decision making at Yelp. In addition, these systems also guide teams like Financial Planning, Data Science, Marketing and Business Operations on business critical functions such as building our publicly reported metrics and discovering new markets.

Where You Come In:
- Unlock the full potential of our data platform by leading teams through automating data management with the goal of providing a true self-serve data platform.
- Explore new technologies and architectures to modernize our data products and platform.
- You will partner cross-organizationally with Data Science andData Product teams on experimentation and feature flagging platform innovations.
- You will mentor your reporting management team, developing them as data leaders and building strong relationships with their stakeholders to get the best from our data platform.
- Grow and empower the senior data and software engineers in your group to have impact across engineering.
What It Takes to Succeed:
- You have previous experience as a manager taking a “people first” approach. Maintaining a collaborative team culture is your priority, and you lead through empathy.
- You have excellent knowledge of data processing technologies such as: Kafka, Redshift, Flink, Spark.
- You have a vision for data at scale, self-serve data platforms, and operating a data mesh.
- You have experience in executing data governance and quality, and driving these through automation and management processes.
- You have hands-on experience driving change in a large organization.
- A Bachelor Degree or an equivalent work experience is required.
What You'll Get:
- This opportunity has the option to be fully remote in all locations across the US.
- Compensation range is $196,000-385,000 annually. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits.
