Engineering Manager, Marketplace


What we're looking for

The Marketplace is core to our product offering where we connect loan platforms sellers
with the finance ecosystem as buyers. This team builds and operates the features and
applications that facilitate loan transactions on PeerIQ's platform. The team architects
and develops services that support the transaction lifecycle which includes marketing,
due diligence, negotiation, closing and reporting. The team is responsible to creating
experiences to our customers that are intuitive and genuine.


As an engineering leader on the team you will contribute to the full spectrum of our
systems, from managing application level design patterns, to running, operating and
orchestrating platform services. As such, you will play a key role in orchestrating and
contributing to our platform and other product solutions, while maintaining a high level of
quality. The ideal candidate will have worked in an engineering manager roles,
preferably at a fintech or an investment bank and will have a basic understanding of
consumer credit, lending and other related securitized products.
In this role you'll oversee a team of software engineers and partner with Product
Management to design and develop services and infrastructure used by PeerIQ's
customers.


Responsibilities

  • Lead, build and manage an engineering team and direct the development of
    services and infrastructure for our marketplace team.
  • Develop an inclusive team in which people are empowered to do the best work of
    their careers.
  • Mentor, grow and coach your direct reports to have a positive impact on the
    organization and chart a fulfilling career path, while keeping them engaged and
    focused on the product and company vision.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to break down complex projects into smaller
    pieces and iterate on their design and implementation and turn our vision into a
    tangible roadmap
  • Be a thoughtful technical voice and support your team in making diligent
    architectural decisions.
  • Help implement effective engineering processes and policies that emphasize quality
    and forward progress.
  • Work with our talent organization to source and hire amazing engineers who will
    expand the PeerIQ culture and product.
  • Contribute to owning and delivering processes that drive engineering quality and
    meet our engineering SLAs.

Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience in software engineering.
  • You have 5+ years of experience serving in an engineering management role.
  • You know what high quality code and software engineering processes look like, and
    know how to foster an environment that creates them.
  • You are able to weigh several and often conflicting constraints and make rapid
    choices in a fast-moving and quickly-growing company.
  • Ability to do both long term thinking and short term planning — execution focused
    with an ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • You're passionate about data and building products that unlock the potential of
    capital markets
  • You possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • You love helping engineers develop new skills and advance in their careers. You
    don't shy away from performance conversations and you recognize the relationship
    between constructive feedback and career growth.
  • You want to continue to be hands on (you'll spend 20-30% of your time writing
    code)
