    Reporting Relationships
    Reports to: Supervision is received from the Enterprise Systems Manager.
    Supervision Exercised: Supervision may be exercised over student workers and interns.

    Job Summary:

    Design, implement, support, maintain, and enhance the College’s vendor and in-house developed applications. Support and improve business processes through the development and support of software applications by analyzing stakeholder requirements and business needs.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional related duties may be assigned.
    • Documents functional requirements, analyzes requirements in the context of software and processes, develops and executes test plans, assists with and document business process improvement efforts, and troubleshoots production issues.
    • Serves as project manager/lead for various projects; document project plans, follow-up with action items, and provide project status updates to key stakeholders.
    • Develops software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.
    • Tracks project milestones and deliverables in project tracking tools or collaboration tools.
    • Design, code, install, and configure complex software packages and systems to address user and system needs.
    • Collaborates with other internal and external stakeholders in conceptualizing, developing and maintaining effective business solutions.
    • Researches new technologies in order to provide recommendations for enhancements and improvements to administrative systems.
    • Manages and assesses SIS/ERP effectiveness by functional area assigned; identifies needs and develop horizontal upgrade, and support plans.
    • Documents incidents, requests, and problems in the service desk ticketing system.
    • Performs data validation and quality control checks to maximize operational performance.
    • Uses a variety of programming skills and languages to create new applications or to support and maintain existing applications.
    • Develops and maintains design, configuration, and troubleshooting documentation.
    • Works across various platforms that integrate with the College’s ERP systems and understands the governance, security and integration development.
    • Serves as the primary or secondary programming support for one or more of these technologies/systems:
      • ERP/SIS
      • Reporting/Data Analytics
      • Document Imaging
      • Web application development
      • Content Management
    • Keeps well informed on rapid development tools and emerging technologies.
    • Trains and assists users with the operation of software systems and adoption of new functionality.
    • Maintains regular and effective communication with the user community, colleagues within the organization unit, and supervisors.
    • Responds to service requests in a timely, effective, and respectful manner.
    • Maintains continuous professional growth and development through a series of actions, including reading technical, professional, and marketing literature, attending workshops, seminars and demonstrations, collaborating with vendors, manufacturers, and colleagues, and engaging in hands-on experiences with a variety of technologies.
    • Provides informed recommendations for enhancements and improvements at Rock Valley College based on new and emerging technologies.
    • Regular attendance is expected.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, Enterprise Systems.

    • Excellent verbal, written, organizational skills, and ability to interface directly with executive level staff.
    • Excellent analytical and reasoning skills.
    • Must possess strong customer service and interpersonal skills; maintain courteous attitude in dealing with students, faculty, and staff.
    • Ability to learn the RVC enterprise systems and new programs and languages as technology changes.
    • Ability to prioritize effectively and to work efficiently without direct supervision.
    • Ability to work independently or with specialized teams.
    • Ability and willingness to complete several concurrent tasks in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, multi-tasking environment.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’ Degree in Information Technology or other related technical discipline or Associates Degree in information technology or other related technical discipline and 5 years of experience in enterprise level or large-scale complex database programming environment required, in lieu of bachelor’s degree
    • Successful applicants will have 3-4 years’ experience in at least some of the technologies below:
      • Enterprise Resource Management (ERP): Experience with Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) systems programming. Administrative and Student Information Systems (i.e. Ellucian [Colleague, Banner], CAMS, PeopleSoft, Jenzabar) for higher education preferred but not required.
      • Programming and Support: SQL, SSL, any 4GL, Visual Basic, Content Management System (e.g. CommonSpot), ColdFusion, Web-based tools such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS, ASP.NET, C#, etc.
    • Related professional certifications are desirable.
    • Experience working in an educational setting is preferred but not required

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear.
