Day in the life of an Epic Analytics Developer II:

The Epic Analytics Developer II implements reporting content and creates analytics content. This position is proficient in the organization’s clinical and/or revenue workflows and is organization’s expert report writer. This position acts as the liaison between operations and data and is responsible for the quality and accuracy of reports produced by the Epic Analytics and Reporting team. As an experienced member of the reporting team, the level II developer serves as an adviser assisting less tenured developers in report writing competencies.

Here is what you will be doing:

  • Identifies and develops appropriate technological solutions for various reporting needs with Epic and Non-Epic solutions utilizing Epic data
  • Facilitates report content design with subject matter experts and report consumers and establishes report scope and prioritization
  • Advises customers and recommends reporting options using reporting expertise
  • Responsible for building and maintaining Reporting Workbench Reports, Radar Dashboards, SlicerDicer, SlicerDicer custom filters, Cubes, Extracts, Third-party BI tools to support long-term initiatives
  • Maintains Analytics Catalog and associated metadata records for Epic and Non-Epic systems
  • Assists the instructional designer with developing training curriculum and training power reporting users
  • Tests report build in a specified testing environment and volume testing in live environments for accuracy of reports
  • Reviews Epic and Non-Epic upgrade documentation related to all reporting tools determines how to build and test the changes
  • Ensures that consumers are satisfied with reports by assisting with interpretation, integration and distribution tools
  • Provides clear, accurate, and timely communication to leadership regarding risks to the status of build, installation, enhancements, budget or timeline
  • Provides application-specific onboarding, guidance, and support of new developers
  • May travel for support of remote clients and must be available outside of normal business hours.

  • Proficient ability to develop a test plan and execute test scenarios for system readiness
  • Able to cross train to other areas if necessary
  • Ability to facilitate communication amongst technical and non-technical project staff and stakeholders
  • Expert knowledge in translating user requirements into functional and design specifications
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment, problem solve and develop solutions
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, email, intranet, internet, and other IT systems
  • Ability to maintain Continue Epic Education requirements for certification
  • Ability to perform as a departmental/organizational role model by modeling behavior, integrity, quality, professionalism and work ethic
Minimum Requirements

Here is what you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree
    • OR, Associate’s and two (2) or more years of job-related experience
    • OR, High School diploma (or equivalent certificate from an accredited program) and four (4) or more years of job-related experience
  • Three (3) or more years of healthcare and/or information systems experience (may be concurrent)
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in report writing tools (may be concurrent)
  • Two (2) or more years of project-based experience (may be concurrent)
  • Current Epic Cogito Certification

Nice to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant area
  • Three years of project-based experience
