Equipment Fueler Assistant
Safely and efficiently ride with the Fuel Truck Driver to assist with delivering fuel, oil and grease to BEI's equipment on a regular basis to prevent costly work stoppage due to fuel run-out.
Job consists of about 25% of time traveling between jobs and 75% fueling equipment.
Maintains a high level of safety on the job site, off the job site and on all public roads by observing applicable laws and regulations of appropriate jurisdictions in addition to BEI rules and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Fill Fuel Truck at our fuel supplier whenever necessary.
- Check each piece of equipment on the job and fill the fuel tank to within 4-6 inches of the fuel cap.
- Keep adequate amount of off-road fuel in skid tank at shop at all times to prevent complete depletion.
- Make copies of necessary paperwork when supply runs low.
- If there are any problems getting into job sites or problems with neighbors or police because of noise, dispatch should be notified by the following day, in coordination with the Fuel Truck Driver.
- Understands and practices accident prevention and response procedures, including how to handle a fire or spill.
- Is aware of appropriate hazardous materials rules for commercial drivers. Consistently follows them.
- Helps to keep fuel truck and equipment clean.
May act as a back-up for the Fuel Truck Driver when necessary, only if CDL Hazmat certified.
When working as a back-up for the Fuel Truck Driver –
- Communicates with other drivers on the road with signal movements as well as equipment operators and people on foot within the job site.
- Observes and is alert to driving hazards on and off the road.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Must be able to read maps and/or follow instructions.
- Familiarization with safety policies and procedures.
