The Humane Society of Cowlitz County is hiring an Executive Director. We are seeking an individual with strong leadership, a passion for animals and someone who strives to make a difference in the community. The successful candidate will be responsible for organization, management, and supervision of all aspects of operations as established by the Executive Board of Directors in accordance with the standard operations, procedures, and bylaws.

The Humane Society of Cowlitz County is a non-profit agency that was founded in 1973. By working in collaboration with nearby shelters, local veterinarians, animal rescue groups and compassionate members of the community, the Humane Society of Cowlitz County is dedicated to seeking loving, forever homes for animals in the community.

Key Functions:

· Responsible for the overall well-being and humane treatment of all animals in the Humane Society’s care.

· Attend monthly meetings with the Board of Directors and other special meetings as needed.

· Prepare budget/financial information and provide detailed information to the Board of Directors.

· Work with the Board of Directors and designated committees to develop administrative policies, goals and achieve other tasks/projects as appropriate.

· Seek out, maintain, and represent to the community through various types of appearances and develop public relations and education materials.

· Actively participates in special projects, outside of regular working hours, including annual fundraising events.

· Answer inquiries of citizens, news media, and others as needed.

· Maintain liaison with local veterinarians and other professional animal groups.

· Responsible for leading all aspects of the animal control operations.

· Ensure employees are knowledgeable, up to date with policies/procedures and receive training and education as needed.

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of relevant work experience in animal care or non-profit management.

· Must possess a valid driver’s license and live in Cowlitz County.

· Must have knowledge of relevant Washington State laws and regulations, as well as local ordinances governing animal control services.

· Team oriented, working successfully with others and contributing to a positive work environment.

· Proficient knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office programs

· Must have excellent listening and communication skills (written & verbal).

Preferred Qualifications:

· Proven ability in preparing, attaining, and administering external grants.

· Experience with service contract negotiations.

· Knowledge of platforms and methodology for connecting with potential partners and donors.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
