New Show Development:

This is a new show being developed by Gray Television and an opportunity to join a team producing the next wave of syndicated programming for the company. The daily show will include elements from InvestigateTV as well as original editorial content and stories culled from Gray stations.

Job Summary/Description:

Gray Television is looking for an experienced executive producer to help lead a team of news managers, producers, reporters, photographers and editors on a new daily news magazine. This new M-F show will air on all 113 Gray television stations. The ideal Executive Producer candidate will have a strong editorial and showcasing background. This will NOT be a newscast. This is an opportunity to focus on journalism and long-form storytelling. The show will be a journey across America through the lens of in-depth storytelling focusing on holding the powerful accountable, informing consumers and profiling the American experience.

The Executive Producer will work with the Managing Editor and Vice President of Investigations to develop and execute the editorial vision and brand of the show. You will also work with the Managing Editor on recruiting, hiring and scheduling of staff.

Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage line producer and associate producers in the stacking, writing and producing of the daily show
  • Manage Coordinating Producer as they work to locate and produce content from Gray stations
  • Work with producers to ensure they maintain the editorial and production standards of the show
  • Work with Editors to ensure they maintain the visual standards of the show
  • Work with the Managing Editor to review reporter content for style, agreement with editorial policy, errors in grammar, punctuation and spelling
  • Work with the Managing Editor to oversee reporter story pitches, story development and story execution
  • Work with Managing Editor to develop and maintain an ongoing shooting and production schedule to meet regular deadlines
  • Work with Managing Editor to develop and execute Digital/Social/CTV strategy and tactics
  • Other duties as assigned by Managing Editor

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 5 years of experience as a news manager
  • Strong news leader with a creative vision
  • The ability to interact professionally and effectively with Gray management at the station and corporate level
  • Proficiency in Windows-based electronics and the ability to learn ENPS as well as new systems as they are implemented
  • Understanding of BitCentral as well as new systems as they are implemented
  • Understanding of digital CMS production and the ability to learn Arc as well as new systems as they are implemented
  • BS/BA in Journalism/Communications or equivalent background
  • Flexibility with travel and work schedules
  • Remote work a possibility
  • Must be 18 years or Older
