Job Type: W2 Full Time Fiber Optic Technician (not a contractor)

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Fiber Optic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of fiber optic technology and possess the ability to install, test, troubleshoot and maintain fiber optic cables, connectors, and related equipment. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of fiber optic systems while following established safety procedures.

Fiber Optic Technician Responsibilities:

• Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables and connectors.
• Perform fiber optic splicing, fusion splicing, and fiber characterization tests.
• Utilize OTDR, power meters, and other testing equipment to diagnose and resolve problems with fiber optic networks.
• Install GPON equipment, including optical line terminals (OLTs), optical network terminals (ONTs), and optical splitters
• Identify and report problems and document work performed in accordance with company procedures.
• Adhere to industry standards and safety practices when working with fiber optic cables and related equipment.
• Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and materials in a clean and orderly manner.

Fiber Optic Technician Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of GPON technology, including optical components and network architecture.
• Prior experience working directly for a telecomm provider.
• A good driving record and able to provide your own work vehicle that can safely carry a 28' ladder.
• 1+ years of experience installing and repairing GPONs
• Experience with optical test equipment, such as optical power meters and optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDRs)
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
