Experienced Wrangler Supervisor

Sorrel River Ranch is a Four Diamond luxury guest ranch located along the scenic Colorado River surrounded by 2,000-foot high cliffs, buttes, and mesas. This exclusive 240-acre riverside oasis is 17 miles from Moab, 21 miles from Arches National Park, and 43 miles from Canyonlands National Park.

Sorrel River Ranch Resort & Spa is looking for a Team Lead Wrangler to join our ranch.

Experienced Wrangler Supervisor Purpose:

• 
  Manage Wranglers, the care & feeding of the petting zoo, horses, and livestock.
• Responsible for managing and leading safe trail rides and safety of staff and guests on horseback as well as in the barn area.
• Manage payroll, timeclock, and scheduling of wranglers for guest experiences.
• Provide leadership within the Sorrel hospitality team and encourage and support the team to deliver our services to the highest possible standard every day.
• Manage the maintenance and upkeep of Barn and livestock corrals.
• Ensure the safety of guests and employees in the barn area at all times.

Experienced Wrangler Supervisor Responsibilities:

Job duties include but are not limited to; cleaning the corral area, barn, and maintenance of all tack and equipment, keeping files up to date, maintaining the health and welfare of the herd, and any other tasks as assigned.

Work closely with Barn Supervisor and Guest Experience Manager to make sure the guests get to experience the most out of their stay.

Complete any other duties that may become necessary.

Experienced Wrangler Supervisor Min Qualifications:

• 
  Proven 5 or more years of Wrangler Management with exceptional horse management skills as well as exceptional customer service.
• Extensive knowledge and experience with equine care, barn management, and veterinarian skills, with previous western riding experience.
• Professional and Business communication skills written and spoken.
  Must have a professional, clean-cut, and business-like appearance to reflect the employee’s Sorrel River Standards.
• Knowledge and enforcing OSHA safety standards when handling or dealing with large animals and livestock. Ability to instruct and guide guests to observe safety standards.
• Some hands one veterinarian knowledge, as well as previous experience teaching riding lessons a plus.
• Must be willing to learn the local SRR, Moab geographic locations, and the amenities offered by the resort.
• Able to work well on a team with different personalities.
• Able to work a rotating schedule. Occasional Overtime may be required.

Experienced Wrangler Supervisor Requirements:

• 
  Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs or more
• Able to effectively manage a variety of horse and guest’s temperaments
• Must be able to bend, pull, and climb without assistance.
• All work is done outside in the Moab desert and resort. Exposure to rain, occasional lightning, snow, sun, and heat is to be expected.
• Must supply own uniform.
• Must be 18 years of age.

Experienced Wrangler Supervisor Min Education or Training:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Some College preferred, Associates Degree in Vet Sciences, Equine Management, Business, or other degrees with 5 years or more experience as a Wrangler Manager or Supervisor.
• Bachelor’s Degree with 4 years’ experience as a Wrangler Manager or Supervisor.
• Certification from accredited Vet Tech school with 6 or more years as a Wrangler, Equine Vet Tech, Trail Rides, or similar industry.

Experienced Wrangler Supervisor Rate of pay:

from $25 per hour - $30 per hour (Manager does not receive tips)

Depending on experience and education:

Sorrel River provides employees with Communal shared rental housing on a limited availability on a first-come, first-served basis. Starting rate of pay will be based on level of experience and education. The incumbent must successfully pass a background check and E-Verify for employment.
