Responsible for assisting in maintenance of an orderly, safe and pleasant atmosphere in the cafeteria, on the playground and in other designated locations by helping and supervising students during authorized before or after school programs in accordance with school policy and established school procedures.

Responsibilities

· This position is one that is in the public eye and program assistants must always reflect a professional manner as well as provide excellent customer service.

· Candidates must be able to resolve conflicts with children and parents, possess the ability to be firm but friendly, and must be able to be courteous and professional when dealing with parents, children and other co-workers.

· Reports to the Before and After Care Program Supervisor.

· Follows proper student sign in and dismissal procedures for Before & After Care.

· Follows proper student check in and dismissal procedures for After Care.

· Observes who enters and leaves child care area.

· Passes out snacks. Plays with students on playground.

· Tutors and assists students with homework.

· Resolves conflicts with children and parents.

· Ability to communicate comfortably (written and orally) with students, parents/guardians, administrators, and others.

· Ability to follow and enforce rules, policies, and procedures.

· Protects students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

· Ensures the safety of students at all times.

Requirements

· Must like children

· Must be a Christian and actively attending a local church

· Must be at least 18 years old

· High school diploma or higher education credential

· Previous experience as daycare assistant or summer camp counselor, preferred

· Frequent walking, standing, stooping, and lifting of up to approximately 30 pounds may be required

· Must have or obtain the required 45 hours of training through the Department of Children & Families.

· Hourly position - Monday through Friday 1pm to 6pm
