Using standardized teaching materials, teach nutrition and other nutrition-related topics to low-income youth and/or parents or caregivers of youth participating in the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program ( EFNEP) in a variety of community settings. Recruit program groups through networking and collaborating with other individuals, community agencies, schools, and organizations. Use surveys to assess adults/youth before and after the series of lessons. Participate in staff development and training opportunities to increase knowledge of nutrition topics and successful recruitment and teaching methods. Perform related work as required. This is a grant-funded position that is renewable by the sponsoring agency & by OSU.

The position is located at the OSU Extension office in Massillon, Ohio (Stark County) with additional duties in other counties as needed.

75 % Using standardized teaching materials based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, teach nutrition and nutrition-related topics (physical activity, food safety, food resource management, and food security) to low-income parents or caregivers of youth. Teach participants in groups at community settings like community centers, job training programs, homeless shelters, and pregnant and parenting teen programs.
10 % Maintain accurately and complete records and reports for all activities. Use standardized surveys to assess program participants’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors to determine educational needs and program impacts. Maintain confidentiality of participants and individual records.
10 % Recruit youth and/or adult groups through networking with community agencies and organizations and programs that target low-income families with children.
5 % Attend staff meetings and in-service training programs at the local, regional, and state levels as required by the EFNEP Program Specialist and/or Project Director. Implement changes as required by the sponsoring agency and by OSU Extension.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED. Certification or vocational training may be preferred. 1 year of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
